NORTH WILKESBORO - Mr. Glenn Bumgarner, 97, of Hunter Road, North Wilkesboro, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bumgarner was born in Wilkes County on May 11, 1908, to John Allen and Bertie Wyatt Bumgarner. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Mr. Bumgarner was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Mamie Bumgarner; two sisters, Ila Blackburn and Pansy Mitchell; and three brothers, Abbie Bumgarner, Fred Bumgarner and Ray Bumgarner. Mr. Bumgarner is survived by two daughters, Jane Bumgarner Roe and her husband Bob of North Wilkesboro and Dare Bumgarner Graham and her husband Tom of Leavenworth, Kan.; two sisters, Emma Lou Hayes and Mae Paris, both of San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, Paul Bumgarner of Mebane; five grandchildren, Michael Roe of Jacksonville, Fla., Steven Roe and his wife Angie of North Wilkesboro, Jimmy Roe and his wife Selena of Wilkesboro, Buddy Graham of Silver Spring, Md., and Andy Graham of Leavenworth; and six great-grandchildren, Stephanie Roe, Candice Roe, Dylan Roe, Jacob Roe, Perry Graham and Alex Graham. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel, with the Rev. Ken Minton officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight, Aug. 2, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
