CARROLL SMITH Obituary
CARROLL EUGENE SMITH "Smitty" (Age 73)
On Saturday, January 25, 2014 passed away peacefully at his home in Falls Church, VA after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children Dale Smith, Robin Smith Knies, son-in-law Kenneth Knies; grandchildren Samuel Knies, Grayson Smith, Natalie Smith, Bradley Knies; brother Bill Smith; in-laws Arthur Vaitsas, Steven Vaitsas, Michael and Martha Carroll, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his caregivers Patrick Hickman and Joseph "Mink" Gaston.He was preceded in death by his parents Truman and Stella Smith; siblings Elzie, James, Carl, Buddy, and Dorothy Smith Meadows. Smitty was born in Winding Gulf, West Virginia on June 8, 1940. After graduating from Sophia High School in 1958 he served in the Air Force from 1958-1962. He owned D & R Drywall before retiring in 2002 to enjoy spending time with his family and friends.A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 11 a.m. at Advent Funeral Home, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22046.Donations may be made in Smitty's name to the following organizations, National Parkinson Foundation (parkinson.org) or Capital Caring (capitalcaring.org).
