Carroll Lee "Pappy" Stull, 71, of Flat Run, Mannington, passed away Monday (July 27, 2009) at his residence.A lifelong resident of Flat Run, he was born in Lewellyn on May 25, 1938, a son of the late Odus "Lee" and Tabitha Maude Varner Stull. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Marie Ensminger Stull; his two daughters, Cheryl and Michael Deitz of Waynesburg and Vonda and John Haught of Mannington; his two sons, Brian and Shirley Stull of Mannington and Tom Stull and fiancée Beth Bradley of Mannington; seven grandchildren, Brandi Stull, April Haught, Jacob Deitz, Emily Haught, Danielle Stull, Anthony Stull and Michael Deitz Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Bianca Stull; two sisters, Stella "Jean" Glover and husband Lawrence of Lore City, Ohio, and Ruby Stout and husband Furman "Bub" Stout of Mannington; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Carroll was a deacon of Lewellyn Baptist Church at Flat Run. He and his wife Mary enjoyed singing at gospel sings, for funerals and for many shut-ins in nursing homes in the area. In 1962, he opened and operated Carroll's Auto Repair, which is still in business today in Mannington. If he couldn't fix it, it couldn't be fixed. He was a master craftsman in woods, metals and plastics. For example, he built a 50 caliber rifle, a hovercraft and a hurdy-gurdy (which is a musical instrument). He was an avid traveler and sportsman till his health prevented him, having traveled through 49 states in a camper/motor home that he built himself. The family would like to thank Dr. Doug Wolfe and staff as well as Hospice Care for all their care and kindness shown during this difficult time.Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, today from 2 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Clifton Light officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to [email protected].

Aunt Mary,
Carris & I will truly miss Uncle Carroll. Carris always said that Uncle Carroll was very special to him and that he cherished the times that he got to spend with him when he went down there to West Virginia. You all are in our hearts and in our thoughts. We love you and hope to see you soon.

Cheryl & family,
I just heard of Carroll's passing. I have many fond Mannington memories of Carrol's Auto Repair and the wonderful relationship between Carroll and Mary. As my dad said, Carroll could build anything from anything.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I know there were a number of times my husband went to him for his knowledge on cars, plus we had him repair a few. Very well liked man and will be missed a lot. But he is in god's hands now and no longer in pain but he will always be in your hearts and memories till you are together again. Cheryl hope all is going good with you. We know each other from school. My maiden name is Fletcher.

I am sorry to hear the news, and sorry that I could not be there for the service. Carroll and I grew up on neighboring farms, walked to school together, were born in the same year as first cousins, and was one of the people that I always tried to see when I visited in Mannington. My deepest sympathies to his family.
Cousin Ella Dawn.
