**Carson Jean Bates, 76**

*March 5, 1949 - September 10, 2025*

Carson Jean Bates passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Sacramento, California, at the age of 76. Born on March 5, 1949, in Sacramento, she remained deeply rooted in her hometown throughout her life.

Carson attended Rio Linda High School where she was a cheerleader and also Grant High School, laying the foundation for a life marked by dedication and service. She built a long and respected career at Mastagni Holstedt Law Offices, where she worked for over 25 years before retiring. In addition to her time at the law firm, Carson also devoted many years to serving the County of Sacramento.

Family was central to Carson's life. She is lovingly remembered by her Children: Sean Irby (Michelle), Tasha Irby, Brandy Fox (Otis), and Ronald Irby Jr. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren-Ryan, Brittany, Tiffany, Izaiah, Johnathon, Jahvaughna, Sean Jr and Rayjanae-and nine great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves behind her sister Olivia Michaux; niece Misha Michaux; cousin Billy Taylor; and her devoted partner Duncan Wallace. Carson shared deep bonds with her best friends Barbara Hill and Joe Beaver (Plexico)

She was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Nona Michaux, brother Omar Michaux cousin Noglia Leach. Carson and Noglia were more like sisters than cousins At a very young age they were inseparable. They lived together and raised their kids together for many years

Carson was known as the life of the party-a vibrant spirit who brought energy and laughter wherever she went. She had a passion for football and could often be found cheering on her favorite teams. A competitor at heart, she loved playing dominoes and cards with friends and family. Bowling was another favorite pastime that brought her joy and camaraderie

Music played a special role in Carson's life-she especially enjoyed 2Pac-and Sunday dinners became a cherished tradition under her care. These gatherings were more than meals; they were celebrations of love and togetherness that became legendary among those who knew her.

Carson had a generous heart and an open door. Whether someone needed help writing a letter or a place to stay during hard times, she was always there with compassion and support. Her bond with her daughter Tasha was especially close-they shared countless memories on bus trips and birthday celebrations together.

A devoted daughter herself, Carson cared for her mother until her passing with unwavering love. She also took care of her Aunt Sharon with the same devotion and commitment. She also treasured time spent shopping with Barbara and playing dominoes or bowling with Joe.

Carson's warmth, humor, strength, and generosity touched all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she brightened.

May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her. A Memorial Service will be held on
