Casey Mize

Katherine "Casey" Mize, of Chapin, South Carolina, passed away on November 10, 2024, in Houston, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 3, 1966, in Bethesda, Maryland, Casey was the beloved wife of David Mize for 39 years. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Andrew Mize and his wife DeLaney, and Jacob Mize and his wife Abby, and a cherished grandmother to John Luke, Monroe, and Shepherd.

Casey was the seventh of eight children born to Leroy and Dorothy Howard. She is predeceased by her eldest sister, Robin Nichols, and is survived by her siblings Richard, Barbara, David, Sandy, Amy, and Deborah. A beloved aunt to many, Casey spent her childhood in Maryland before moving to Columbia, South Carolina, in the early 1980s. It was there she met and married David Mize in November 1985, beginning a lifelong partnership.

An avid fitness enthusiast and beach lover, Casey was known for her loyalty and loving nature. Her greatest joys included spending time with family, traveling, and exploring new destinations. Her love for her family was always paramount, and she cherished every moment with them.

In her professional life, Casey was a talented entrepreneur with a keen business sense. She excelled in banking management with BB&T before transitioning to operations management for Mize Landscaping, a successful business she and David founded in the late 1980s. Their sons now proudly continue the family legacy.

Casey's playful spirit and dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Dutch Fork Baptist Church in Irmo, South Carolina, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church are appreciated.
