Cassie Edwards Obituary
Cassie was an adventurous spirit who enjoyed trying new things, cooking, exploring, and spending time with her friends. Her vibrant personality and love for life touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her father, Lee Edwards, her mother, Stacy Russell, her paternal grandfather, Fred Edwards, her maternal grandmother, Geri Vigil, her brother, Zachory Edwards, her uncle Cory Edwards and his wife Marieke, her Great Aunt Suzanne Edwards and Mark Crocetti, her cousin Sarah Edwards, and many more cousins and relatives. Cassie was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Betty Edwards, and her aunt, Keli Edwards.
Cassie attended Los Osos High School and Mount San Antonio College, where she pursued her educational aspirations.
Memorial Services will be held at her family home in Rancho Cucamonga on April 11th, 2024. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Association for Women in Science in memory of Cassie Lee Edwards.
Cassie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

No joke this is how we became friends. Freshman year my sister Aubry and I were always dropped off early at school because of my parents commute. I would sometimes sit and watch my sister practice for marching band. She was is the flute section and march alongside the girl who would soon be my best friend.
They were practicing a formation and I think Cassie briefly stopped and my sis ran into her. She started yelling at Cassie for stopping. I got up quick and jumped in to defend Cassie, it was obvious it was a mistake. I didn´t know it then but I made a silent vow to always protect her. She was such a so soft spoken at the time but when she was truly comfortable with people she would light up! She was silly and goofy, she was sweet and sassy. Her dry sense of humor and wit was so funny.
I never forget her.

I remember Cassie as an shy but inquisitive young lady who loved nature and animals and being a helpful blessing to others. Even as a young girl, she seemed different than alot of the spoiled kids in our old neighborhood who took everything for grated. Cassie was grateful and appreciatiative and respectful, which was a testament to good upbringing. She loved her grandpa dearly, and her family, and it was easy for me to consider her family as well. I'm happy to have stayed in touch with her through the years to watch her blossom into the beautiful woman she became. She will be missed.

My first memory of Cassie was her smile that lit up the room. My memories come from the stories Great Aunt Suzanne would tell me throughout the years. The beauty of her energy and inquisitive thoughts. The connection that Zack and her had together. Though I was not privileged to see her much, i knew she was special to the world. My heart and love goes to the family and friends.

I was running away from a bee in 2004. She couldn't see the bee, but she saw a tall girl running away and screaming from seemingly nothing. When I saw the look of confusion and concern on her face, I stopped and told her it was a Bee and she laughed. That was the beginning of the best friendship I have ever known.

Many years ago, Fred Edwards and family came to visit Ray and Ruby. I am Ruby. Fred is my brother-in-law married to my sister Betty. Betty had passed at that time. The visitors were Fred, Cory, Megan, Sarah and Ms Cassie.
It was a long drive and pouring rain that day. We hugged and laughed and tried to remember events that had happened in the last few years. We had all gotten older for sure. As we sat and talked, Cassie saw a family book I had on the coffee table. I had created a family book to help to remember family names and events. We forget things so quickly. Just saying!
Cassie asked me if this was our family in the book? I told her that it was her Grandmother Betty's side of the family. She had some questions about who was who. Sadly, they couldn't stay long because of the weather. They prepared to leave and Cassie gave me a big hug. Little did I know that would be the last time I would see her. Love you Cassie. May you rest in peace.
