Cassie Manning Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 14, 2022.
Cassie Mae Boone, affectionately known as "Titi" was born on April 26, 1935 to Helen McCall and Leon Boone Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age at Second Mount Zion Baptist Church under Reverend W. Walker and Reverend W.H. Banks. Cassie was raised in Van Vleck, Texas and graduated from Herman High School with top honors. She had a profound appreciation for education and attended Wharton Junior College and Prairie View A&M. She earned her Business Certificate from Houston Business College.

On December 23, 1955, Cassie married Freddie Manning of Bay City, Texas. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Houston and began a family. She enjoyed reading the bible, gardening, playing cards, dominoes, board games and traveling. She was a faithful member of Outreach Missionary Baptist Church and always helped wherever she could, including with the Women's Choir, Sunday School, and the Senior's Ministry. Cassie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and community advocate. She served as the Block Captain for the Southern Village Civic Club and a "VIP" Volunteer in Public Service for Houston Independent School District.

It takes a village, and Cassie was a mother to more than her children. She devoted many years to caring for, shaping, and mentoring children in the neighborhood and in our family. Moreover, she was always willing to show compassion and hospitality to friends and family while they attended school or worked.

Cassie was preceded in death by her parents Leon Boone Sr. and Helen McCall Boone; sisters Jacqueline Henry, Lois King, Florida Ray King; brother Leon Boone Jr.; nephews Ellis Boone Jr., Wendell Winston, Reverend Anthony Kendrick; niece Tonia Perry and special friend Wanda Taylor.

Cassie is survived by her husband Freddie Manning; children, Pamela Harrison, Paula Rowe, Frederic Manning (Geralda), Katrina McNutt (Kevin); brother Ellis Boone Sr., (Lovie); grandchildren Brian Woods, Jo'Nese Parramore, Daren Harrison, Kaira Maxwell, Ciara McNutt, Ericks King Jr., Oran Rowe III, Angela Harrison, Eric Finney, Donavan Woods, and Keianna McNutt; great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
