Catherine Castaneda

Age 68, of Gurnee, passed away on September 5, 2015. She was born on July 23, 1947 in Oak Park, IL to Walter and Marian Whitcomb. Catherine was a loving wife to Frank for 26 years. Although Catherine and Frank had two children, Jason and Petra, she was a caring and compassionate mother to all. Catherine worked for over 30 years as property manager for Imperial Towers Condominiums in Chicago. Although her family and career were in Illinois, Catherine loved spending all seasons in her family's lake home in Pentwater, Michigan. She could always be found planting and weeding her gardens, feeding the birds, or relaxing on the deck enjoying the view and a glass of wine. Catherine is survived by her husband Frank; her children Jason (Lyndsay) and Petra Castaneda; grandchildren Madelyn and Kenzi Castaneda; her brothers Clyde (Tammy) and Craig (Donna) Whitcomb; and her father Walter Whitcomb. She was preceded in death by her mother Marian Whitcomb and her son Sean. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Gurnee Salata Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee IL with a service at 4:30 pm.
