Catherine Cote

Catherine E. Cote 1935 - 2007 AGAWAM - Catherine E. (Hervieux) Sears Coté, 71, died Saturday in a local nursing home. She was the business manager and controller for Dairy Mart Convenience Stores' accounting department for 15 years. She also worked for Winter Haven Pediatrics in Winter Haven Florida for five years, serving as their bookkeeper and accounts manager before retiring in 1997. Born in Springfield, she resided in Agawam since 1984 before recently moving to West Springfield. Cathy graduated from Cathedral High School in 1953 and attended area colleges. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam. Very active in her community, Cathy was a board member of the Agawam Council on Aging and served as Secretary for many years, she was Treasurer of Friends of the Agawam Senior Center, a dynamic volunteer at the Agawam Senior Center, Secretary for the Fundraising Committee for the Expansion of the Agawam Senior Center, an Agawam Lioness, a member of the Agawam Catholic Club, and the Over 60 Club at St. John's Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph "Emile" E. Coté, whom she married February 12, 2004; her son, Daniel Sears of Westfield; two daughters, Catherine Alberti and her husband Lawrence of Agawam, and Teresa Costa and her husband Glen of Chicopee; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Paul D. Sears died in 1998 and her sister Geraldine Baker. Funeral services for Cathy will be held on Wednesday 9AM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home on 985 Main Street in Agawam followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial 10AM in St. John the Evangelist Church. A committal service will take place on Thursday at 11AM in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Agawam Senior Center Expansion Fund, PO Box 238, Agawam MA 01001.
