Mrs Gerard meant so much to me as an art teacher both at Gillespies and George Heriots. She was always so full of passion and enthusiasm and really helped to nurture my love for art through her teaching which I carried through to my university degree. I still remember her voice so clearly reminding us to only use a kittens whisker for glue and not a lions lick!
Thank you for everything.

Catherine, thanks for all the help, advice, charm and humour when I was first teaching in Bruntsfield in the 90's. For all you said I had mad ideas, it was you that encouraged them ...and you knew it!
So pleased we met up again last winter - you'd hardly changed, still as sparkly and ...yes, vivacious as ever.
Thanks for the education and influence, and a shoulder in tough times.

Catherine, my classmate for many years at Cranley, I am going to miss you a lot - too young to leave us! I will always remember your great sense of humour and humanity, your lively intelligence, your enthusiasm and interest, your sparkling personality and your inimitable sense of style.
