Catherine Mary Maiorano
Catherine Maiorano, 85, Charlotte, passed away on June 8, 2010 at Sardis Oaks. Born September 16, 1924 in Akron, Ohio, Catherine was the daughter of the late Leo and Mary Marino.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church in the Day Chapel with Monsignor John J. McSweeney celebrant. The family will receive visitors for the hour prior to the service.
Catherine was married to the love of her life, Anthony for 62 years. She loved to dance and travel but her passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cooking old fashioned Italian meals was something Catherine took great pride in and passed the skill on to her family. Catherine and Anthony moved to Charlotte in 1989 and were devoted members of St. Matthew.
In addition to her husband, Catherine is survived by two sons, Salvatore Maiorano and wife Jona, Lee Maiorano and wife Peggy; sister Anne Sarno, brothers Leo Marino and his wife Ann and Leonard Marino; two nieces Mary Lungaro and Martha McGill; four grandchildren Toni Cornelius, Alison, Christa and Kelsey Maiorano and three great-grandchildren John, Cate, and Jane Cornelius.
Catherine was pre-deceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church or the ALS Foundation.
The Maiorano family is in the care of Heritage Funeral Home - Weddington.
