Catherine Peña Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 20, 2024.
Catherine A. Peña, known affectionately as "Wonder Woman," aka "Cat," passed away on July 10, 2024, in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 60. Born on November 24, 1963, in Lamesa, TX to Eliodoro Peña and Emma Ramos. Catherine's life was marked by her selfless nature and a contagious, joyous spirit that uplifted everyone around her.

Catherine was a beacon of love and kindness, often described as a free spirit with a laugh that could light up a room. Once you heard her laugh, you couldn't help but laugh yourself. Her compassionate and nurturing demeanor made her a cherished figure within her community. She was a devout attendee of Emanuel Community Church, where she also served and formed many of her close relationships.

A lover of life and its many joys, Catherine enjoyed a variety of activities that kept her spirit vibrant. She was an avid participant in Zumba classes at the local YMCA, lead a sewing class, found peace in gardening, and loved playing a good match of ping pong. She spent everyday at the YMCA where she formed friendships and lasting relationships. Everyone knew and loved her. Her hobbies were extensions of her lively and loving personality.

Catherine was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her only daughter, Stephanie L. Melendez. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Dianna Peña Davis, Jennifer Guajardo, Emily Escalante, Amelia Erica Peña, Eliodoro Peña Jr. Lee Matthew Peña, Jeff Paul Peña.

Services to celebrate Catherine's life are to be determined and will be held at Emanuel Community Church. Updates will be sent out via GoFund me and text. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to support her memorial fund at [Gofundme](https://gofund.me/d9de2bbd).

Catherine's legacy of empathy, love, and community involvement will continue to inspire and resonate with all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her extraordinary spirit.

Keep dancing in heaven Wonder Woman. You are deeply missed. You are deeply loved.

When I first join the YMCA on Roosevelt, Catherine was one of the first ladies I met there. She was kind & friendly, and made me feel very welcomed. I will always remember Catherine "Wonder Woman" as a very special person. RIP Wonder Woman.

Ms. Cathy was my neighbor for many years. We shared a love for sewing and arts and crafts. We got together at the community center here at the compklex. She is greatly missed as a fellow participant in the activities. Rest in eternal peace dear neighbor and
friend. Great sympathy to your daughter.

Catherine always made me laugh. I remember one time she told me her daughter bought her a stun gun and it was pink. She told me you can never be too careful.
