Cathey Kelly

Cathey Marie Kelly (née Ward), 66, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2025, in Clearwater, Florida.

Born on April 27, 1958, in Anderson, South Carolina, Cathey was a devoted mother, sister, and friend. She dedicated her life to providing for her family and worked tirelessly to ensure their well-being. In 2021, she retired to care for her beloved husband of 46 years, Samuel Alan Kelly, who preceded her in death.

Cathey found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener with a deep appreciation for nature. She loved bird watching and rockhounding, always finding beauty in the world around her. A lover of stories and puzzles, she spent countless hours reading fantasy and science fiction novels, solving intricate puzzles, and immersing herself in vintage video games. She also had a passion for murder mysteries and documentaries, enjoying the thrill of uncovering hidden truths. One of her greatest joys was traveling with her daughters, Athena and Brandy Kelley, creating cherished memories along the way.

She is survived by her daughters; her volunteer grandchild Jacob Tucker of Seneca; her sisters Karen Rumpf of Clearwater, Florida; Christy Blackwell and Cindy Beck of Anderson; and her brothers Mike Ward of Walhalla and Patrick Ward of Seneca. She was preceded in death by her husband; her sister Norma Jean Atkinson of Zephyrhills, Florida; her parents John Amon Ward and Patsy Green Blackwell.

A memorial gathering will be held on March 29, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the American Legion Post, located at 319 Kenneth Street in Walhalla, South Carolina. Flowers are accepted, and food will be served as friends and family come together to honor Cathey's life.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
