Cecil Chalker Obituary

Retired Farmer GIBSON, Ga.- Mr. Cecil Chalker, 93, of Blankenship Mill Rd., loving husband of the late Mrs. Mattie Landrum Chalker, entered into rest Thursday, February 24, 2005, at the University Hospital, Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Magnolia Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Kitchens and Rev. Richard Kitchens officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Chalker, was a native of Glascock County where he lived all his life. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of the Gibson Church of God. Survivors are two sons, Ernest Chalker of Gibson and J.C. Chalker of Sandersville, four daughters, Elizabeth (Ralph) Prescott of Gibson; Evelyn (Edmond) Brown of Augusta, Gladys (Lloyd) Hilson of Mitchell, and Ann (Ralph) Kitchens of Gibson, and 'Adopted' daughter, Mariette Freeman of Augusta, and a daughter-in-law, Jennie Chalker of Louisville, two step children, Daisy Jones and Jerry Usry of Mitchell, 17 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, two step great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Lawanna Coxwell of Warrenton and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Math and Etta Norris Chalker, a son, Math Lewis Chalker, a grandson, Eric Andrew Turner and wife, Mae Belle Usry Chalker. Pallbearers are grandsons, Eddie Usry, William Chalker, Dennis May, William J. May, Don Hilson, Steven Hilson, Greg Chalker, David Kitchens, Marty Chalker, and Andrew Turner. The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home and at the residence at other times. The remains will be placed in the church one hour before service. Memorials may be made to the Glascock County Concerned Citizens in care of Mrs. Corene Chalker, 3037 Bastonville Rd., Gibson, Ga. 30810.
