My belated condolences to the family , Mr Papke and my dad were good friends and their paths crossed in the craziness of the oil patch in the 70's and baseball in South Jasper Place. With that infectious personality and the larger than life stories that he told , it made a lifelong impression on myself and he will be sorely missed but never forgotton

Bev & I wish to extend our sincerest sympathies to all of Cec's family. We regret that we are unable to attend the services, but wish to send on some of my special memories of Cec to them. Our association with Cec and family was mainly when they were in Estevan. I, like Cec,was a baseballl and hockey addict.
Being a farm boy, I started hockey late and only after having played for Cec did I play some serious hockey. He was my coach & I, his captain, for the Estevan Miners, who, in one of the best years, won the Soo-Line Hockey Leaue regular season & playoffs.
HIs love of the game rubbed off on me, as I played & coached hockey for many years, 8 as Estevan Bruin coach. During that period, I had Hal at one of my camps.
After Cec moved to Calgary to take over the new junior team, he asked me to come up as a trainer. I was very tempted but couldn't make the move due to finances as a struggling young farmer with a family. That's when the great training career of another fellow player and long-time friend to both of us started..one "Bearcat" Murray!
Cec also named and helped form the Big Six Hockey League in S.E. Sask, which just celebrated it's 50th Anniversary!
Cec had an impact on many people while in S. E. Sask and will be remembered by all!
We'll miss you, "Papateur"
Sincerely Bev & Gary McKechney
