I don´t really have the right words for this world´s loss of Cecile Richards. By all accounts, someone who inspired and led with vision, whose core principles and values guided her every move, who managed to remember the name of everyone she encountered, their children and grandchildren. There was no one who didn´t benefit from her respectful treatment, even those trying to frame and judge her in a Congressional hearing.

She believed in women, in people, to know their own minds and bodies. She believed deeply in equality. She believed in and fought fiercely for freedom and autonomy, and wanted us to listen to the stories of those robbed of it, so we could understand each other better, judge less, and live as the best versions of ourselves.

Brilliant. Warm, kind, fair-minded. A mother. An activist. A hero. She believed in all of us. She was a champion for all of us.

Knowing Cecile just a little changed my life. May we all make trouble when trouble is required of us. She made me more brave, she taught me and others to question everything and take risks and stand up for justice. May we disrupt the norms we experience with the same respect, sheer resolve, fierce passion, and kindness of spirit.

Rest in peace and power. You were a force of nature, Cecile Richards. I am proud to have lived at the same time as you and been inspired to join your fight.

We will carry on your legacy and one day this country will be ready for change.
