Cecile Mabel Thibeault Robertson

Cecile Mabel Thibeault Robertson, 86, Gadsden, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008. A funeral Mass will be held at noon Saturday at St James Catholic Church in Gadsden. Father Alan Mackey will be offering the mass. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Collier-Butler Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Robertson was born on July 4, 1921, in Pawtucket, R.I. She married Leonard G. Robertson Sr. on May 10, 1945. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

She was small in stature but had a huge, loving, generous heart. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also touched the lives of hundreds of others as a teacher for 20 years at Episcopal Day School in Gadsden. She truly loved all the children she taught.

She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She was the "Granny" of Pine Cone Camping Resort for many years. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, spending time with her friends at Lookout Mountain Senior Citizens Center, crocheting and especially playing cards.

She never wanted anyone to cry for her, but to just remember her with a smile.

She as preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Leonard G. Robertson Sr.; and her daughter, Glenda "Peewee" Robertson.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Ledbetter, Gatlinburg, Tenn., Brenda (Bill) Stancil, Gadsden, and Shirley Osborne, Gadsden; sons, Len G. Robertson, Roswell, Ga., and Ronald S. (Evelyn) Robertson, Helena; grandchildren, Gina and Larry Herring, David Hanvey, Michael and Sharon Kyker, Angela Stancil, Stacey Yates, Scott Osborne, Blake Stancil, Jason Robertson, Kyle Ritchie, Allie Robertson and Holden Robertson; great-grandchildren, Michelle Herring, Andy Herring, Kyle Kyker, Cody Kyker, Noah Yates and Lauren Hanvey; brother-in-law, Bernice (Maudine) Robertson, Attalla; numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to the staff of Fort Sanders Hospital in Sevierville, Tenn., Dr. G. Patel and staff and Amedisys Hospice for their compassionate care.
