GREENSBORO — Mrs. Cecile Owen Yates died Thursday, June 25, 2009, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, at Piney Forest Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Willard McPherson officiating.
Mrs. Yates was born June 6, 1918, at News Ferry, Halifax County, Virginia, the daughter of John Henry and Alice Burgess Owen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey P. Yates Sr. and by two brothers, John H. Owen, Jr. and Frank W. Owen and one sister, Louise Owen Hawker.
She is survived by two sons, Harvey Paul Yates, Jr. of Tucker, Ga., and Frederick Owen Yates of Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Paul B. Owen of Stockbridge Ga.; and four grandchildren, Hollis Patricia Yates of Athens, Ga., Reid Taylor Yates of Athens, Ga., Caroline Elizabeth Yates of Greensboro, and Kimberly Owen Yates of Greensboro.
