Cesar Mendez

Cesar Mendez, aged 56, passed away on July 15, 2024, in San Diego, CA. Born in Calexico, CA, Cesar was not only a visionary in his professional life but also a cherished family man and a beacon of charisma and humor.

Cesar graduated from Calexico High School, class of 1985, and attended the University of California, Santa Cruz,.Cesar's intellect and charm touched all aspects of his life. In 2002, he co-founded Grand Entrances with his partner Colin Pearce. Under their stewardship, the company burgeoned into the leading destination in its industry in San Diego, a testament to Cesar's entrepreneurial spiirit and creativity.

Beyond his business successes, Cesar was a gifted artist with a passion for traveling, collecting art and antiques, and an unapologetic love for shopping, especially shoes. His home and his dogs held a special place in his heart, only surpassed by his love for his husband, Howard Hardin.

Cesar is survived by his husband, Howard, his siblings Eva Mendez, Maria Begines, Arturo Mendez, Soledad Ingle, Graciela Valencia, Jesus Mendez, Jose Alfredo, Delia Mendez, Silbia Mendez, and his niece Juanita Quinonez, along with their children. Each family member carries forward a piece of Cesar's vibrant spirit and legacy.

A celebration of Cesar's life will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Poway Bernardo Mortuary, located at 13243 Poway Rd., Poway, CA 92064, from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm. The family invites all who knew and loved Cesar to join in remembering a life lived with passion, love, and laughter.
