Dear Scott and Kay, it is with great sympathy and heartfelt thoughts I am writing you today. I cannot honestly say or know how it must be to lose a child. My sincere condolences to both of you.

Our hearts and prayers are with you. We didn’t know your son but knowing his parents, I’m sure he was a wonderful, caring soul. There are no words that can help or take away the pain. We can only hope that in time the grief will walk beside you instead of consuming you. Sending our blessings.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of chad, he grew up down the street from me and we shared many good times together, from playing practical jokes on neighbor's to me getting my license and packing 8 teenager's into a 1980's blazer, paper air plane's and spit balls everywhere it was like the fourth of july back there, chad laughing and smiling it's the way i will remember him. jeff whitfield

I am mother of a friend and remember Chad from their days at Gull Lake. So sorry he left so early. He will be missed by all his friends some of whom are flying to Michigan to attend his memorial.

I worked with Chad for the past year and really enjoyed his presence on our conference calls and all his support he gave me personally over the year!

He made me laugh and was a great guy... going to be missed tremendously.

Melanie and I send our love to the Douglas family and all of his friends. We love and will miss Chad. We were fortunate to see him in 2019 when we visited Phoenix. He was a gracious host and a dear friend. I know losing a loved one suddenly is especially difficult. We will be thinking of Chad and his entire family this weekend.

Chad was an amazing person with a great heart and a great smile.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I worked with Chad many years ago in Chicago, then, when he moved I was fortunate to see and talk to him over the last 20 years at various food conferences. He always had a smile on his face and a great story to share. He is missed.

Though we didnt know him personally, we recall Scott speaking of him several times, and could sense the pride he and Kay both had as he talked about him. Your hearts are hurting now, but rest assured our God is with you and the rest of your family now, just as he has been with all of you, including Chad. Please know we share your sorrow.

To my sweet friend Chad, you will be greatly missed. My favorite memories of you are ones of us smiling, singing and dancing in the living room, in the kitchen, on the patio.... I know our souls will dance together one day.

We are heart broken to hear of your precious loss. We never got the opportunity to meet Chad but heard many wonderful stories about him. Both of your faces always lite up with pride when you spoke of him. We know you will be comforted by your faith and your many friends and family. We were neighbors and friends with Scott and Kay. We are so sorry to hear that he had has passed!! Rest be assured he has entered into a much better and peaceful place!!

I didn't know Chad well but remember him the most from his Lemonade Stand at the Richland Art Fair sometimes along side your Kettle Corn. He always had a bright smile and a warm word. I first met Chad when the GL elementary schools merged at GL Middle School. I remember him even then laughing and smiling, even though we were all nervous 7th graders. We became close friends in high school, and then we both attended MSU, where we remained in pretty close touch and saw each other often, even relying on each other for a last minute "date" to a fraternity or sorority party. He was always someone you could count on, and he was a true friend in his honesty and loyalty. Chad had so many friends, both at GLHS and at MSU, and he made an impact on those friends, which has become so apparent since we all learned of his sudden passing. I, and the many high school and college friends we knew in common, are all crushed by the news of his death. I know how very special his family was to him. I was in awe of the happiness reflected in the photos I have seen of him and Nikki and parents, and my heart is broken for them and everyone who he left behind. Chad was very loved, and we will miss him.

I was very blessed to be able to spend some time with Chad this past February in Phoenix with Sarah, Ba, and Colleen. It had been awhile since I had spent time with Chad and I had forgotten just how great it was to just be around him because he could always make me smile or laugh uncontrollably with his impersonations and stores! I have nothing but great memories of all the times I spent with the entire Douglas family and wish you all peace and healing during this very difficult time.

When I think of Chad I see him smiling. I spent many a night at the Douglas household with his sister Nikki... my favorite memory is when his Mom made stew and he was talking about venison... I said I’d never eat Venison!! I kept picking out the meat chunks and eating it. After the meal he informed me I had eaten venison... I remember his music. I believe that was the first time I heard the artist Peter Frampton. Chad you will be missed. Thinking of the family and sending my prayers that you may find peace.
