I'm sorry this message is so late in coming but I wanted your family to know how sorry we all (the John Hoenes) were for the loss of your dear mother. Aunt Charlene made it a point to show kindness to everyone she met. She made all of us feel that we were very important and she showed great interest in what we all were doing. When I was in my early twenties, Aunt Char allowed me to stay a few days with she and Ralph, as I was visiting a new boyfriend who was stationed in Sacramento. I enjoyed meeting most of the family then and getting to know such lovely cousins and wonderful Charlene and Ralph. I wish we could have all lived closer to each other over the years as I'm sure we would have had great fun together ! All my love to you and wishing you peace and gratitude for the gift of your beautiful mom.

Aunt Charlene was beloved by many of us here in Minnesota. My mother, Barb Hoene, shares her love of Charlene and how much Charlene was good to her when Barb married Herb and joined the Hoene family. As a child of Herb and Barb, I remember a family visit from our California cousins when we were in our middle school years and how much we enjoyed connecting. We saw Aunt Charlene a few more times and always just loved how kind, thoughtful and interested in us as she was. I know this must be a huge loss for our California cousins, but please know that we appreciated her and recognize the loss that you are experiencing as your Mom must be phenonmenal.

My deepest sympathy to the Hoene/Smeland family. Mrs. Hoene, as I will always remember her as, was an absolute wonderful person and always had a smile on her face when I would run into her later in life after I left Presentation. She always asked how my brother Wes was and my parents too. I will also always remember how beautiful the church was at her touch. Thank you to the family for sharing your mom with all of us kids. God Bless.

Met Char when she first started dating Ralph. She was such a good fit for Ralph, a warm and caring lady. We were friends in the Selby Ranch days in the 80's.
