Charlene R. Countryman, 61, a longtime resident of Red Hook, NY, died Friday, February 20, 2009 at her home. For many years, Charlene was the medical office manager at Dr. Wendy Parish's practice in Kingston and previously at Dr. S.R. Bierstock's office in Rhinebeck. Charlene earned her RN degree from Vassar Brothers Hospital Nursing School and began her nursing career at Vassar Brothers. During her career she also worked at hospitals in Highland Park, Illinois and Zion, Illinois. Besides her family and career, she enjoyed reading, needlework and was an accomplished cook. Born on November 13th, 1947, in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marion (White) Fowx. Charlene married Glenn Countryman on December 16, 1967 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Rhinebeck, NY. Glenn survives at home in Red Hook. In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters: Julie Horst of Farmington, NY, and Jodi Fitzgerald of Canandaigua, NY, five grandchildren: Alexandra, Grace, and Sophia Fitzgerald, Elijah and Phoebe Horst, two brothers: Jerri Fowx of Livingston, NY, and Calvin Fowx of Thiells, NY, two step brothers: Tim Fowx of Highland, NY, and Tom Gloede of Poughkeepsie, NY, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY. The Rev. Ryan T. Nace will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot at Rhinebeck Cemetery, Rhinebeck. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Monday from 4 to 7 PM. Memorial donations may be made in Charlene's memory to the Hospice Foundation, Inc., 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
