Charlene Joan Johnson , 67, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2014, at her home in Norwalk. Charlene was born on November 18, 1946, in Flint, Michigan to George and Beulah Erickson. After graduating from high school, she began her college courses and joined the work force. It was while working at GTE, that she met her future husband, Dennis Johnson. They went on to have two children, a daughter, Shelley, and a son, Eric. Having spent several years as a stay-at-home mom, Charlene began working for the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District. At the beginning of her career, she worked as a classroom aide, but then began working in the computer lab, both at Moffitt Elementary School and at Norwalk High School. She loved working with children and helping them succeed. She was a patient, kind, and devoted wife, mother, and friend, who was always willing to lend a hand. She was an active member of her church and she enjoyed walking, bike riding, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Dennis, daughter Shelley (Daniel) Sanchez, son Eric, and grandson, Xavier. Visitation will be at Forest Lawn in Cypress, CA on October 28, from 5-9pm. Funeral services will also be at Forest Lawn in Cypress, on October 29, at 9am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Alzheimer's research.
