Charlene Yvette Parrish, 66, of Huntingdon, England, passed away on September 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of her devoted daughter.
Charlene was born on September 10, 1959, to Eileen Constance Byatt, and from the very beginning she showed the strength, wit, and resilience that would carry her throughout her life. She was a proud military spouse for 17 years, standing strong beside her family through countless moves and challenges. Later, she dedicated her talents to the Virginia Department of Corrections, where she worked as a postal lead and administrative assistant. No matter where life took her, Charlene was always a fighter - someone who faced difficulties with courage and determination.
Beyond her work, Charlene had a gift for connecting with people, especially teenagers, whom she mentored with patience and heart. She poured her creativity into making beautiful flower arrangements, brightening spaces with color and care. She also knew how to enjoy life's simple pleasures - music playing in the background, a glass of wine in hand, a cigarette nearby, and one of her favorite "trashy" TV shows on the screen. (Smile)
But above all, Charlene's greatest joy and pride was her family. She adored her daughter, Renee, and her granddaughter, Zoë, with all her heart. She treasured her brothers, Christopher Lightfoot (Tracey-Ann) and Terry Lightfoot; her dear Aunt Betty; and shared a special bond with her many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved immensely. Her love for her family was endless, and it will continue to surround them even in her absence.
Charlene was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Eileen; and her dear aunt, Ivy May Norman, whom she adored.
She will be remembered as a woman of strength, humor, and heart - a beautiful soul whose love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
