Charles Henry "Chuck" Alford passed away, suddenly, on July 9, 2025 in
Pollock Pines, California, at the age of 91. Born on June 24, 1934 in Barberton, Ohio. Chuck was a lifelong learner and lived a full life marked by deep family connections and enduring passions.
Chuck was a devoted family man whose legacy lives on through his daughters, Antonia "Tonnie" Alford and Lisha (Alford) Michael (John). He was a proud Papa to five grandchildren, Carlye, Drew, Jordan, Justin and Morgan and great-grand Papa to four beautiful great-grandchildren. Also, guardian to Shawn Power and Antonia (Power) Hines. His love for family extended to his surviving brothers, Tom Alford (Lynn) and Richard "Dick" Alford. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maria Alford, his parents Andrew and Bertha Alford, Sister Vickie (Alford) Driscoll and brother Robert "Bob" Alford.
Chuck thrived for knowledge. He graduated from High School at a young age and proceeded to continue his education at Ohio and Indiana Universities. He worked several jobs before eventually becoming a Civil Servant for the United States Air Force then retiring at age 80 from general contracting for the United States Government.
Throughout his life, Chuck found joy in sharing experiences with those he loved. He had a passion for travel, horse racing, enjoying a good meal and as we all know, being the keeper of our family history. He often brought his grandchildren to the racetrack, creating cherished memories. Taking them on trips that will bring back loving thoughts of their Papa. Chuck and Maria traveled the world and in 2017, as a tribute to Maria's life, Chuck took his daughters and grandchildren to Europe – for some of them it was their first time overseas. This is a cherished memory for the whole family. He also made sure that we remembered our heritage through the wonderful food we experienced. The food from his childhood that Bertha would make to the food from Holland.
Chuck researched our genealogy, tirelessly. He cherished and loved our family. Take pride in the knowledge he has recorded for us. His dedication ensured that future generations would remain connected to their roots.
In his giving tradition, his remains were donated to the University of California Davis' anatomical gift program. Please celebrate his life by remembering the man he was.
May Charles Henry "Chuck" Alford's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and carry forward the values he held dear: love of family, shared traditions, and honoring the past.
