Charles Anderson

Hello Peter, Steve, and Julie: I don't know if you remember me but I am Iva Podbilski's nephew. I just discovered this obituary.
I will always remember your parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson (I still can't bring myself to call them by their first name!).
My sympathy goes to all of you. My mother passed away 19 days after your dad did and my dad passed away a few years earlier.
Namboothiri's are now living in Southern California and I'm in the process of buying a retirement home in Palm Springs, CA (I'm living in Watertown, MA).

I will always remember Charlie as someone who took an interest in my career at Stanford Research Institute. I was a different soul from the engineering culture there, but he took a liking to my work in futures, innovation management, business strategy as we headed into the ambiguous 1980s. He was a positive force, a mentor and always ready with friendly advice. My sympathy to his family and my many fond thoughts of him.

I saw the obituary of Mr Anderson in the Stanford alumni magazine (my wife went there, class of 89). I met Mr Anderson in 1988 when I moved to the Bay Area from Bellevue, Washington. I knew Mr Anderson's brother Howard and his family and they suggested I meet Mr Anderson when I moved there.

I very much appreciated his hospitality to me, a new college grad working for HP. He took me to lunch at the Menlo Country Club and in general was always very approachable. He was a dear man.

Hi to Peter, Steve and Julie - I will always have the fondest of memories of your dad - He was a great friend to my dad and I picture them somewhere laughing together and making fun of each other relentlessly. Two gentlemen, truly. The world misses men like them.

Charlie was a friend and mentor through all the early stages of my career. At business school, he helped me make a few of the most important decisions of my life. Post-B school, he was at Kearn, I was at McKinsey, and we worked together on some important issues. At one point he smiled and said: "How can I take advice from you? I know you too well." He'd always been my counselor, not the other way round.

I was so sorry to hear about Charlie from Jean. He was a bright light everywhere he went. I have so many warm memories of him at your house, sharing dinner, laughs and stories. His smile will always be a part of my memory of him. How lucky all of you were to have such a wonderful father and grandfather and to have him so long. He will be missed by so many.

I knew Charlie when I was at SRI. He was a wonderful, generous man, and perhaps most importantly a gentleman. A rare quality in a businessman. He will be greatly missed I am sure. My best wishes and prayers to his family.

Anderson Family-Your patents were great friend of my parents...the Alpha Phi connection!! We miss them all but remember the wonderful relationships that lasted a lifetime.
