First of all I'd like to say, I've known Charles Beecham since we were kids. And I as so many of his friends in Houston Texas are saddened about his passing. Charlie B was a great guy and will truly be missed.

Well Danny it is hard to believe that it has been over a year since you left us. You will never leave our hearts. I will visit you and your family soon and continue to check on you. I spoke with your daughter and my desire is to bring them to America and plan a visit to the site. In the mean while rest well my brother.

Danny Boy you will always be our friend from the Heights in Houston. We have many fun memories of how we grew up in H Town. I remember when we rode our bikes to Memorial Park to go swimming and how you chose to attend Jack Yates HS instead of Booker T. Washington. I truly enjoyed visiting you in Paris and running errands for you while in the Hospital. You are the only person in the world I think would have me catch a taxi and go buy you 2 fish sandwiches at McDonald's. If I had it to do again I would do it again. You were that kind of friend to me. I enjoyed talking on the phone with you and your visits to the states. I will always remember the good times we had and the visit with Brian Collyer and his family in Dallas where you stayed during the Christmas Holidays. Also having lunch with Chantal Ragoo and Leroy Chalk was a treat for me while visiting in Paris when you were hospitalized. You have enriched all of our lives and I am so glad I had you as a friend. It was not easy for me to receive you when it was time for you to come home for the last time. I am glad God gave me the strength to carry out your wishes that you be buried with your mother and grand parents. Well brother rest well and I will keep in touch with your daughter and grand son.

Charles was one of the people that made ASP the way it was: memorable, special, AMAZING. without Charles, my 14 years at ASP would definitely not have been the same. always leaving him a slice of pepperoni pizza, skipping push ups when he wasn't looking, and talking with him for an hour in the cafeteria, he was there every day. i will miss you so much, i can still hear you laugh and see your beautiful smile. may you rest in peace, you inspired more than you know.

Beacham loved chicken, potato salad, chocolate cake and baby girls. He played dominoes every Sunday with Leroy, my husband and me. He loved my sweet doggy and could caress her for half an hour nonstop while watching American basketball on cable TV. He, also, loved to go to nightclubs and was known by people such as, the Princess Stephanie of Monaco. He had a great life in France, good money, good apartment, good food, and good friends. He will be dearly missed.

I met Charles in France 30 years ago and kept a close friendship with him until his death. Although we played on different basketball teams, we always kept a close relationship. He always "talked" a great game, but actually, he "was" a great shooter that really knew the aspects of the game. He coached successfully at the American School in Paris and won several championships in basketball and volleyball. The last six years, Charles had major health problems which really slowed down his style of life. Our relationship became closer after he had kidney surgery and I was always there to help him. Later, he had other health problems that developed and unfortunately took his life. Charles had a kind heart with an ego to go with it. He is missed by his daughter, Aurelie, and her family; Hans Hoegan, who was very helpful and considerate; Chantal and Christian; Fay Hutchinson; and especially me, Leroy Chalk and many more. Our memories of the American School of Paris will always include Charles, a coach and teacher to our children and a friend to the families who entrusted them to his care. Although we left Paris many years ago he has stayed a part of our lives and remained a good friend. His unique outlook on life and love of the game of basketball made a special mark on our family and his presence in our lives will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace and live long in the hearts and minds of his friends and family.

Charles,
You were a wonderful coach and man who cared about us as kids and made the games of basketball and softball fun to play. You left a lasting impression on hundreds of people and on the American School of Paris. The memories you made with all of us will surely live on. Much love and condolences to your family.

Dearest Charles, Thanks for your personal commitment when running the Varsity teams at ASP. You have touched the lives of so many young students. I always knew that your dedication to the varsity basketball players meant my son was always in good hands. The athletes were safe, cared for and they all loved you as a coach, friend, and mentor. Many people see you in many different ways and this is because you made connections with people on many different levels. From your roots in Texas in the 1950's, you were able to raise up above your hardships as a child and use sport as a vehicle to become a true global citizen working with children from all over the planet. Quite the journey I'd say from a small town in Texas when the world was a different place for you. Your sickness lasted years and still you worked up until the last 3 weeks of your life. We talked in your last days about staying strong and compared the battle with your illness like going into overtime on the basketball court. You were weak but still had time to have a giggle. The fun times and laughs as a parent of one of your players, collegue and friend will always be remembered. You will be missed by so many Charles. Rest in peace my friend

You have had such an impact on young people's life as a teacher and coach in the almost 20 years at the American School of Paris, France. We have some great memories and stories from our trips to the Netherlands, Belgium, Monaco, Germany, Austria, Greece, England and other places.
