Sonia, Charlie and Carly it is with heartfelt sadness that we learned of Rick's untimely passing. For numerous years when business brought Rick to Vermont he stayed with us at West Hill House B&B and we were always looked forward to visiting with him. His sense of humor was outstanding as was his evident love for his family- he often spoke of each of you. May you find grace and peace through your faith and in the love of family and friends who surround you.

Larger than life, if you worked within the insurance investing community, you knew Rick Beard, you expected to see him everywhere, and you always looked forward to it! I am so sorry for Rick's very sudden and tragic departure. He was not only a terrific investment consultant for me when I was at AAA Michigan in the 1990's, but a good friend and mentor. That relationship did not end after I moved on. I remember attending with Rick several Cardinal games (baseball and football) in both Detroit and St. Louis, all very memorable and enjoyable. If we all could change 10 peoples lives during our lifetime, we would change the world. Rick touched and changed many more than 10 peoples' lives while he was here. I am sure his spirit will continue to do so in Heaven.

We are so sorry for your loss.... We still look so fondly upon the time when my son and husband targeted Rick and Charlie at Legoland with the water guns on a ride because of their Cardinals gear. Afterwards, my son and husband reached out to Charlie and Rick to introduce themselves and apologize for the deluge and to share our mutual enthusiasm for the Cardinals. Rick was such a great sport about being drenched by fellow Cardinals fans. Sonia, Charlie, and Carly: you are definitely in our thoughts and prayers. His wonderful spirit lives within you. Continue to shine bright.

Rick was just simply, a very special guy. Lost a true friend and colleague, to soon buddy. Upstairs, I am sure you now have a new bike, some golf clubs, the ever present tub of ice cream and great seats looking down into Busch stadium. I will sorely miss your approach to life and enthusiasm, see you in heaven buddy.

So sorry for your loss. We were so saddened to hear about this. My husband and I rent some of your families farm ground in Dieterich, IL. We were just starting to get to know Rick. We talked alot at Garland's funeral and came to know that he was truly a wonderful guy. You're all in our thoughts and prayers.

I have had the privilege of knowing Rick as a business friend for the better part of 20 years. Always friendly, gracious, empathetic, smart and, above all, funny, he was a true professional. There wasn't an encounter with Rick where he wasn't interested in the business, in you and in talking about new ideas. I had tremendous respect for him as a person and a professional, and I know all of his clients and business friends did as well. I send my deepest sympathies to you and my thoughts and prayers are with you. I am very sorry for your loss.

Rick was a first class individual. As one of his competitors in business, I always admired his honesty, sense of humor and his considerable accomplishments. Please accept my deepest condolences to the Beard family.

I do not know Mr. Beard nor his family, but I heard this heartwrenching story on the news shortly after it happened and my heart just sank. My sincere condolences to Mr. Beard's family, friends and colleagues. I am so very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for this tragic loss -- I was at HBS wtih Rick and thought he was a world class person and a great friend to all -- we shared a great love for the Cardinals and mid-western values -- super guy -- my family and I share in the sadness and mourning that we all share -- even from afar.. what a loss to Sonia and the kids, to the St.Louis community and to all of us that knew and held him in such high regard....

I am truly saddened by your loss. I had the privilege of knowing your Dad for the past 20 years. You were kind enough to host me for dinner one evening when I was in St. Louis and we went out for custard afterwards.
