Charles Blair Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 20, 2024.
Charles Robert Blair, affectionately known as "Charlie," passed away peacefully at his home in Tequesta, Florida, on December 16, 2024, at the age of 79, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his devoted family in his final moments.

Born on March 19, 1945, in Newport News, Virginia, Charlie was the son of M. Lois Griffiths Blair and George H. "Tubby" Blair Sr. He graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1963, where he was a multi-sport athlete and captain of the football and basketball teams. He attended Franklin Pierce College before serving his country as a Staff Sergeant in the US ARMY. Charlie also faithfully served the town of Concord for many years in the rotary club as well as on the finance and school committee, where he served as chairman. He enthusiastically supported and coached many local sports teams, and had a steadfast devotion to the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins.

Professionally, Charlie excelled in real estate, where he made lasting contributions through his dedication and expertise. Outside of work, he found joy in skiing, boating, golf, and fast pitch softball - activities that reflected his love for the outdoors and zest for life.

Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Patricia Mulvihill Blair of Tequesta, Florida. He also leaves behind his sister Debbie Blair Coffin and brother Hank Blair. A proud father, Charlie is lovingly remembered by his children: Lance Blair and his wife Marla of Decatur, Georgia; Jamie Bruneau and his wife Kerri of West Palm Beach, Florida; Heather Berlin and her husband Robert of Lake Worth Beach, Florida; Nicole Shapiro and her husband Steve of Pasadena, California; and John-Paul Bruneau and his wife Heather of Jupiter, Florida.

His legacy lives on through his ten cherished grandchildren-Lilah, Skylar, Tyler, Ellery, Ruby, Parker, Charlotte, Presley, Mason, and Payden-who brought him immense joy and pride.

Charlie's warmth and spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.

Dear Pat and Family,

I am so sorry about Charlie. He was a wonderful person, with such a great personality. Charlie was always fun to talk with, whether it was in the office, at Town Meeting, or over at Emerson Field watching a baseball game.

He is someone I will always remember.

I am Charlie's first cousin, Charlie Byrne. Our mothers were sisters. I had not been in touch with Charlie since we met at his mother's funeral. I remembered from when we were kids that Charlie was two years older than me and had a birthday in March. I decided to send him an 80th birthday card a couple of weeks ago. I had only the Florio address in Concord and the card was "returned to sender". Somewhere I saw that he may have had a place in Juniper. Instead of his new address, I found his obituary.

I am so sorry to hear that Charlie has died. I send my condolences to all his family. I know I have some photos from when we were kids. I'll try to find them and add them here. I know there is one of Charlie and me climbing on a cement lion at Benson's Animal Farm in Hudson, NH, taken about 1952.

So sad to hear of CB's passing. A great friend and teammate who will be missed by all. My prayers for CB and all of his family and friends. I also pray that he is met by T-Bird in the next life. Tommy will show him around.

Freshman football - Charlie never wore his glasses. When he dropped an easy pass, Coach O´Connell (great guy and quite humorous) yelled to him, "Charlie, catch the middle one!"

It was winter 1962 and Crosby Pond was frozen solid. A bunch of us bought junk cars and were playing tag on the ice. I had a 1952 Hudson I paid $50 for. Charlie stopped by in his brand new 1962 Chevy and joined the fun. I thought for sure that beautiful car would get destroyed. But, ever the agile athlete, Charlie sailed around the ice without a scratch. Charlie was the life of every party he attended.
