Charles Boone Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 30, 2021.

 Psalm 23 Traditional

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil; for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Lynne and Boone Family,
I am so saddened by the news that Charles has passed. He was a wonderful man, a perfect gentleman, a great singer and great instructor. He had expertise of many subjects and I took many of his courses as a student. When I arrived at OLLI at UNLV, Charles was teaching the jazz class with Chuck. He sang often and contributed information about the history of jazz. Then he began teaching with his wife, Lynne, the history and benefits of drinking tea; he explained which teas were beneficial for different conditions and diseases. He was so knowledgeable: I was in awe with how much he knew without looking at any research that he had done for this class. But, most of all, he always had a smile for everyone. He was always so pleasant and so positive! I shall never forget him and how kind he always was to me. May his memory always be a blessing for everyone who knew him.
With heartfelt condolences,
Jennifer Neeman

Life in Vegas

Lynne Boone

December 3, 2021

I married the boy down the street. He became my best friend, my partner, my playmate, and the adventure of my life.

Charles was born in Chicago, raised in Memphis but New Orleans held his heart. Las Vegas was his second home. The energy, the desert, and the mountains called to him.

He never met a stranger. He talked to everyone. And people loved to talk to him. It was amazing how many wanted to take him home, or have him talk to a family member.

Charles was in the Fairley HS Band. He also attended Xavier University of Louisiana. I'm sure he is talking to St. Katherine about their beloved city right now. To his surprise he became a teacher. He went from Jazz to gospel to tea and meditation. He was very good, and even working on a book.

Music was his second language. He considered his voice an instrument. His a capella rendition of the 23 Psalm would move you to tears. Some of my fondest memories are of the girls helping him learn new songs while he was driving the van; choir practice where Robert and Charles would have musical conversations; and when he would sing just for me.

My beloved has gone home; and there he waits where time has no meaning.

He leaves with me his children: Natacia Covington, Brandon Plasky, Bradley Plasky, Rachel Terrell, and Audree & David King. His grandchildren: Brianna Covington, William B Plasky, Jaisen Marie Whitfield, Rhian Linn Brack, Alexander R, Jacob, and Isaac King.

Also missing him are his mother - Josephine Hoover Boone, and his brothers - Ty and Glenn Boone, and his sisters Arlene Steele, Barbara, Gloria, Joan, and Marci Boone, Debra Balfour, and Pearl Walker, and his godfather - Eddie Carter.

Please post pictures and videos.

Everything you taught me helped me turn my entire life around. Helped me learn to control myself. Believe in myself. You were the first renegade I ever met. I'm glad the last thing I said to you was "I love you Dad." You'll get where you want to go; I'm not worried about that.

Words can't really describe the hole left from your passing. I know your in a better place, and all your life you spent trying to get people to a better place too. You showed me a world where my imagination flourished, introduced me to the world of marvel, amd darted me on my musical path with your great music taste. You're sorely missed, but im glad you're not hurting anymore. I love you, always and forever. Thanks for being an awesome dad.
