In memory of
Richard Hungerford

I think of Charlie on days when I am making beef burgers.... I was a young boy, my dad was his buddy in Leavenworth, he and my dad went out the night before he shipped out to Vietnam. Charlie always had a wonderful smile. It has been many years since Leavenworth. You are still one of my greatest memories

Did not know as I lost contact over the years. He was my Professor of Military Science at the University of Kentucky and took a special interest in me. Colonel Brindel was a major influence in my life and army career, we would see each other during my more than a decade at Ft. Bragg. Although I chose not to take a commission, he was always interested in my career in the 82d Airborne and in Special Forces. Colonel Brindel was one of my heroes and many "Oldtimers" at Bragg and around Fayetteville spoke highly of him a real inspiration for me. May God rest his warrior's soul, a real soldier from "The Greatest Generation."

I served at Fort Leavenworth with Charlie. He was a great guy and treated me with respect. I was just a draftee. I remember one time he took me to lunch at the FLV NCO Club. Nice guy.

Charlie served the Realtors community with a vigor and integrity that I doubt could ever be matched. He made you proud to have the designation and practice in the Lowcountry. Under it all is the Earth and above it all are the Heavens. God Speed Charlie you will be missed by the many you touched.

Charlie was a wonderful, generous friend and protector of those who were innocent and helpless. He was a wonderful example of a person who was willing to give of himself to those around him in need. He was a stalwart supporter of homeless animals in his community. The world will be a poorer place without his kind spirit. Prayers and condolences are sent to his family. RIP Charlie, we love you.

Charlie was one of the most patriotic individuals I have ever had the honor of knowing. He served his country with honor and his profession passionately. He would do whatever necessary to protect and promote the ethics of REALTOR. I am blessed to be married to a lady who is as dedicated to that same code as Charlie and privileged to have known him.
He may being teeing it up in Heaven and no longer being out-driven by the "flat bellies". But most certainly he is in fellowship with the great REALTORS who served under his tenure and have passed before him.
RIP Colonel

As a new realtor I joined the wed. night realtors golf group. 1st week I was lucky enough to play with Charlie and he made me feel right at home before the first ball was struck. Even with his position with CCAR he always seemed so down to earth and giving of his time. If you talked to him about anything He listened with an honest ear. He treated all the way they would want to be treated. RIP my friend. Yours was a good run and one that I will remember fondly.

What wonderful memories I have of Charlie and how he helped so many of us learn and grow throughout the years! He was a true friend, mentor, professional and loved what ever he did with a passion that was contagious!! If he saw something in yourself that you didn't even know existed, he cultivated it and helped each person grow to reach their potential. He taught many of us much and I personally have enjoyed the many lessons I have learned from him. He was military regimented through and through and how he loved this Great United States of America!!!
He took the local associations of Realtors and banding them together, helped to make them one of the strongest organizations in the area as Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors!! His retirement was well deserved, but he was so missed!!!! I fondly remember that "Woodchuck" (or gopher, what ever it was) of his that made an appearance in almost every class he visited!!! His strength and guidance during board meetings was always filled with bits of wisdom. Sometimes we took it, other times we didn't, but we always listened and learned!!
Proud to have known this Better Than Great man!!! May your memories and love for him carry you all through this time and know he is missed by many!!
