Charles Albert "Chuck/Chuckie" Brownell of Navarre, FL, formally of Holbrook and Weymouth, passed away peacefully, after surgical complications on December 19, 2023, at the age of 68. Chuck was born on July 10, 1955 in Boston, MA. He was the son of the late Donald and Phyllis Brownell (LeVangie). He married Patricia Riley on May 6, 1997 in Jamaica.

Chuck, the beloved husband of Patricia Brownell (Riley) of Randolph, MA, He was the cherished brother of Rhonda Keeler and her husband William of Niceville, FL, Leon Brownell and his partner Linda DiPasquale of Rockland, MA, Leslie Minassian and her husband Ron of Hingham, MA, and the late Donna Brownell of Weymouth, MA. A dear uncle of Leigh Anne Stewart, Robert Merkel, Sean and Brad Willis, Brett Brown, Jay and Kevin Minassian. Chuck's extended family and countless friends will deeply miss his presence and laughter.

Chuck grew up in Holbrook, MA and for several years in RI and Warren, MI. His childhood friends were called "The Grubs"and they remained his closest friends throughout life. He lived most of his life on the South Shore before moving to Navarre, FL with his wife Patty. Chuck graduated from Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA in 1973. Upon graduation, he went on to Bentley University and studied computer programming. He began his career as a COBOL programmer at Hancock Bank in Quincy which was later acquired by Bank of Boston, where he served as vice president. Chuck was responsible for writing the original codes for their ATMs. He worked also for Fleet Bank and Bank of America as a result of subsequent mergers. Chuck then had a long career at Fidelity Investments where he was a principal software engineer. His expertise in mainframe application systems brought him to Raleigh, NC where he and Patty lived for ten years.

In 2015, an ongoing neurological illness, brought Chuck to seek treatment in Boston. He was grateful to the doctors at Brigham and Women's Hospital who correctly diagnosed and treated him. Afterward, Chuck took an early retirement and returned to Navarre, FL to recover at home.

Chuck will be remembered for his good nature, quick wit and incredible sense of humor. He was a complex man with a keen intellect who was genuine, authentic and true. Chuck had an intense love for music especially that of Bob Dylan and knew every lyric to every song. He loved Rock, Folk, Blues, Reggae and countless musicians, their songs and the stories of their lives. He and Patty moved to Navarre because they loved the area, beaches and its close proximity to New Orleans. Chuck loved the people, the music and lifestyle there. He had a deep appreciation for interesting people from all walks of life. He was kind, caring, empathetic, always willing to listen and befriend.

Chuck was a huge Patriots fan, an avid reader and had a great interest in History. He could talk at length about events in ancient history from the Egyptians to Extraterrestrials. He had a keen intellect yet, he was humble, unassuming and down-to-earth. Chuck was forever curious, forever young. He had strong opinions, an engaging personality and priceless sense of humor. He cherished his friendships, his family and Patty, his wife and best friend of 26 years. Chuck was his own man but he belonged to us all. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
