To Uncle Raymond's family, I grew up knowing Uncle Raymond and always looked forward to his West Virginia visits, the Callahan reunions in Wytheville, and hearing him preach the Word of God. I know you will miss your dad. I loved him and I love all you kids. I know he is in God's care! Love, Nellie Grace

Paw Paw, I am so sad to hear that you have gone home, but also feel joyful at the same time, you are with your sweet Mamaw and your Lord and Savior. You will truly be missed. All of the lives that you have blessed by just being there to comfort them or as a shoulder to cry on, when someone needed spiritual guidence you were there. As for myself you were there for my family when my grandmother died we needed someone to preach her funeral and you were the one. Your many treasures that you have earned here on earth are waiting for you in heaven. Please tell Mamaw we all miss and love her too. You two were a wonderful couple and raised your children to be beautiful people just like you. They say your children are a reflection of you, well I guess you are smiling proudly because your children couldn't be better people. I sure would of like to seen you before you went home but sometimes it is better to remember the old days as my eternal memories. YOU ARE LOVED AND MISSED DEARLY.
With all of my love and sympathy,
Misty (motes) McCranie and family (Angie's Cousin)
LOVE YOU GUYS LOTS!!!!!

I am a long time friend of Dave & Joan but had the pleasure of meeting Bro. Callahan a few times. He was an inspiration to his faith and everyone who met him. I would like to express my sincere sympathy to the entire Callaham family. Memories last forever even when our loved ones are gone to heaven.

It is with great respect, admiration and affection that I honor a true pioneer and soldier of the faith. C.R. was always considerate and encouraging to young preachers; he certainly was to me as a young evangelist. We have lost a wonderful preacher and leader, but heaven has gained another winner. Blessings to the entire family.

My memories of Poppy are no less than wonderful. I was only one of his "adopted" grandchildren. He was close with my grandparents (Allen's). They preached in the Church of God together. He moved to WV for a little while and I was spoiled with double dose with Poppy and my Grandparents. He built a cabin across from my aunt and I spent alot of time down there with him when I could. He had alot of tales to tell and I loved to listen. I now live in walking distance to that cabin he built (its still there). I'm sure that Poppy and Pa are already telling tales. He was truly a man of God and Heaven is now Blessed. We all will surely miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

My papaw will be missed deeply in more ways then one. He was my last grandparent to go so this is really hard on me! I hope that god takes care of you in the way that you devoted your whole life to him! I love you and will miss you really bad. I will however always keep our memories in my heart. I know you are finally going to heaven to see mamaw. I know that has been your only thoughts since she left us. Please kiss her for me and I hope she knows as well as you that there wont be a day that you both cross my mind! Again I love you so very much and will have a hard time not being able to see or talk to you anymore. I will know that you will always be looking down on me from time to time. You were a great grandfather and a great parent! I remember going to church with you on sundays and singing and always making you laugh.I am so glad that you at least got to see my two children and had time well spent with them. Little Joe loved you so much!! I love you always and always!!! And will never forget the things that I learned from you good and bad? I will never forget anything about you or anything that you did for me. I was lucky to have such a great and caring grandfather.Again please kiss my grandmother for me up there and tell her that she has been deeply missed!Love your grandaughter...Angie Muah!! always (thats a kiss in case some people didnt know that) Love always and always. This is going to be very hard on me so before I break down here I am signing off. But with love and a very empty feeling.

Dear David and Joan,
Our prayers and thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow. I have known you and and your family for over thirty years . Your Dad has preached the funerals of some of my family members. He is the only Preacher in my sixty years of life, who made the sorrow go away and left you with the feeling of love and the anticipation of meeting your loved ones in a better life. I believe he is with your Mom and smiling down upon us and saying, cry no tears for me, for I am HOME.
Your Friend and Buddy

I will miss you always. This death is very symbolic to me for many reasons. I will remember the spaghetti dinners we always had him over for. And I will miss hearing him say " I've gotta get home to see my little boy" talking about his puppy "Chico". Chico really kept pops going. Now, my family is lucky to have inherited him and I have completely fell in love with him! Pawpaw I know that you came to the gates of pearl and Mawmaw's sweet face was waiting. I can only imagine the feeling it will be. Thank you for being an inspiration and teaching me wonderful things.
I LOVE YOU- Kayla

I only knew Bro Callahan for a short time. However, I knew he was part of my family through our relationship with our Daddy GOD. You will miss him much, but soon we will be together with those gone before us. What a great reunion day that will be! Praying for GOD's strength to wrap you by the power of the Holy Spirit!!

My memory of C.R. Callahan is that of a "preaching machine" evangelist, who could and did preach the Word with great anointing. I also remember him strumming an old guitar, leading the people in singing "O, there'll be shouting on the hills of glory, shouting on the hills, there'll be shouting on the hills....when we reach that land of which we've heard the story...there'll be shouting on the hills over there." He's there now....shouting on the hills....others are there because of his ministry....his home going should be an "alert" to all of us still here....our time will come too.
