NEW BEDFORD -- Charles "Charlie" Casmira, Sr., age 77, of Fairhaven, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (McQuade) Casmira.
Born and raised in New Bedford, a son of the late Manuel J. and Irene (Sylvia) Casmira, he has resided in Fairhaven for 55 years.
Mr. Casmira worked as a tool crib attendant at the Acushnet Company for many years until his retirement. Previously, he worked as an auto body mechanic for 25 years.
He was a self taught ham radio operator, a member of the Saints Motorcycle Club of New Bedford and a longtime volunteer for the VFW in Acushnet.
Surviving: 2 Daughters, Kathy A. Casmira of New Bedford and Carol A. Mercer and her husband Bob of Fairhaven; 5 Sons, Charles Casmira, Jr. and his wife Brenda of New Hampshire, Stephen Casmira of South Carolina, Michael Casmira and his wife Mary Lee of Fairhaven, Kevin Casmira and his wife Sheryl of Fairhaven and Gary Casmira and his wife Colleen of Dartmouth; Longtime Companion, Edna Martin of North Dartmouth; 1 Brother, Richard Casemiro of Fairhaven; 13 Grandchildren; 5 Great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 10AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O.
