Just found out today. Thinking about the great times we had at Cal Lutheran, and the meal we shared at the Halweg's during my trip to our 45th reunion. Know I am thinking of you Carma. Love to you and your family.

I was so sorry to read that Chuck had passed away. I am sending my sympathies and prayers to all of you. May God wrap His loving arms around all of you with his grace, peace & comfort. My Mom never forgot that Chuck had called her on Christmas Eve the year my Dad died. She thought so much of the both of you. Dick & I also enjoyed our times together. God's Blessings to all of you.

How can you put a friendship of over fifty years into just a few words. It started when we worked together at LSS in Lacrosse. Chuck was a kind and caring counselor who knew when to be tough, and when to give encouragement. I admired his ability to get to the heart of matters doing whatever was necessary to give his clients, and me occasionally, the advice needed to get over rough patches.
Over the years we had many good times. The annual family BBQ contest when we were living in LaCrosse where we cheated unmercifully to win over the judges, all the kids, to win the coveted blue ribbon. It was especially great the year Chuck built an ice fort and slide for the kids in his back yard.
The trips to the lake where we'd meet with Chuck, Carma and our good friends the Amlaws to pull out the dock in Spring, and go for pontoon rides out on the lake. Chuck always took the lead on those rides and really seemed to be in his element. He knew all the great places to fish, view the ducks and loons, and watch the sunset. And those weekend were fantastic - eating far more than any human should possibly consume, sharing stories about our children and grandchildren, playing games, and yes, giving each other grief as only friends can do,
Chuck was not just a friend to my husband and I, he was family, and he will be greatly missed.

Chuck was one of the best men I ever have known. He was an inspiration to me to be a better person. The only time I ever heard him raise his voice in over 40 years was in laughter...an awesome person and we will all miss him terribly...Our prayers and love to Carma, Jason, Michelle, and the kids...

We were honored to stay with Chuck and Carma in their beautiful home at the Purple Shirt reunion for old Cal Lutheran alumni! We had a blast, especially in the screen house ( cant remember the right name) but we vowed that what was said in their stayed in there. Chuck touched our hearts as he gave us one of his beautifully carved flutes for our son who had been very ill. His heart was huge, loving, and giving! We love you Carma and will be praying for you as you walk this new path. May you take Gods hand and let Him, our Lord and Savior, lead and guide you and give you peace and comfort as only He can! God bless!

We will always cherish the times we spent together. Blessing and prayers. We are here for you. We simply can not drive for the service, too risky for Doug. We are in spirit by your side hoping that you can navigate these unfamiliar waters. Love you very much!
