Charles “Chuck” W. Lalanne, also known as Chef Lalanne, 58, of North Platte, NE passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha from complications of liver disease.
Charles was born on June 17, 1964 in North Platte, NE the son of George L. and Judie (Wade) Lalanne. Chuck grew up in the Denver area and moved to North Platte in 2000 to manage the North Platte Country Club. Several years later in 2003 he bought The Canteen Bar & Grille and operated it until 2020 when it closed. Chuck had many interests that included, skiing, fishing, and golf, but mainly cooking and hosting family and friends for many special occasions. He loved creating new recipes for his restaurant and had a weekly local television show where he prepared original recipes from seasonal ingredients. He had a great sense of humor, love of life, and did many acts of kindness. Chuck and Angie met five years ago and were married in a small family ceremony in August of 2022. Angie was his sole caregiver in the last months of his life, never giving up hope for his recovery and his angel. Chuck had a great love for all his pets and leaves behind his puppies, Tiko and Tia. He was such a big part of all our lives, and we will miss him very much.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Angie; mother, Judie; sons, Taylor Lalanne of Kansas City, KS, Griffin Lalanne, Trent Lalanne, Dustin Odea, Tyler Odea, and Cody Smith all of North Platte; grandsons, Kade Odea and Luke Smith; sister, Jamie (Eef) deHeld of CA; nieces, Katie Knuse of North Platte and Elaine Tallick of CA; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, George.
There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life at Another Round in North Platte at 4:00 p.m. on March 13, 2023. Cremation was chosen per his wishes. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pawsitive Partners or Fur the love of PAWS animal rescue and shelter.

From the day I met Chuck waiting for the school bus, roughly 5th or 6th grade, we were instant best friends. His parents became my parents, his sister my sister. I´m sure George, Judy and Jamie became sick of me but I wasn´t going anywhere. Through the years we had so much fun, fishing, skiing, skating on the frozen pond. Just did absolutely everything together, spending the night at one house or the other. Inseparable to say the least. The best of friends. Chuck is one of a kind, the best. He will be missed by anyone who has had their lives touched by his friendship.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Rest in peace Brother.

Chuck had lots of enthusiasm and always a smile. The last time I saw Chuck, he asked to be an artist for Paws-itive Partners’ next Paws on the Platte dog event. We will miss Chuck.
