Charles Cochran Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 29, 2018.
Cochran, Charles Sewell (Charlie) passed away suddenly Saturday, April 21, at home. He was born in Knoxville, Tenn., the eldest of five children. Founder and managing partner of CN Futures Trading and developer of The 3-2-1 Trading Method- ology software, Charlie was an active participant in the securities and futures industry since 1980. He was not only a master analyst of the futures markets, Charlie was also one of the last original Market Profile pioneers. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. A Vietnam War veteran, Charlie served as a U.S. Air Force pilot (1969-1973) and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. He received his MBA from Southern Illinois University. Managing the Pizza Hut account for the Trane Company brought Charlie to Wichita in 1975. He was an avid skier, reader, lover of jazz; Sunday school teacher for 30 years, church board member, AYSO soccer coach and mentor to many. At age 65 Charlie began boxing, making many new sparring friends in the ring amongst local amateur and professional fighters. He reignited his passion for the saxophone and began playing again six years ago. A true Renaissance man with a solid working knowledge of many subjects, Charlie had a particular passion for the history of Western civilization. A steadfast and loyal man, as well as a humble, sincere seeker of Truth, Charlie lived his life guided by the divine principles of Christian Science and raised his daughters to know their relationship with God. Above all else, Charlie was a devoted husband and father. He was happiest walking Henry, working in the yard, grilling or just sitting on the deck listening to jazz. He is cherished by his wife of 48 years, Helen, daughters Elizabeth, Emily (Carlos) and Sarah; siblings Bruce, Martha, Merry; and his beloved newfoundland, Henry. Charlie's latest passion was that of first time grandfather to Charles Edward Coello. A Celebratory Service will be held Saturday, June 9, 3:30 pm, at University Congregational Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Wichita Salvation Army, 350 North Market St. or the Second Church of Christ, Scientist, 4501 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, Kan. I was simply a guy in his 3-2-1 chatroom methodology on market profile more than 8/9 years ago. I often appreciated his humor, sincerity and enthusiam. We never meet each other but I consider him as a mentor. I discovered his death only today. It's a sad day for me. Thank you and have your peace, Charles.

My role in Charlie's life was as his wine consultant and on some occasions he listened but we always had a few laughs getting there. My hope is that you put hisTennesse ball cap with him. Charlie. We will all miss you.

My nieces were all taught by Charlie in Sunday School. He was a real Christian. Open and loving and supporting those he encountered where ever they were in their journey. The first time I ever talked with him was after my sister passed. He was very supportive and compassionate and helped me to deal with my own situation. It's actually pretty amazing to think a person can touch your life even in a short interchange. My nieces very much valued him and respected his spirituality in a human world.
With Love,

Hearing about Charlie passing so saddens me. He was one of the best I had served with in the Air Force. A true officer and gentleman. God bless Charlie and the entire Cochran family.
