Charles Craddock Obituary
Born in Charlottesville, Virginia, February 11, 1941, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Craddock and Lydia Shifflett Craddock. He was also preceded in death by a sister Jackie Shifflett and a grandson Andrew Jackson Craddock.
Charles retired as principal at Axton Middle School, with over 30 years of service in Henry County Public Schools. While there he served as a football and wrestling coach at G. W. Carver. Also he served as a teacher, football, and baseball coach at Halifax County High School. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Christian Church in Martinsville, and attended Calvary Christian Church, Martinsville.
He was a loving and devoted family man who always made his family his greatest priority in life.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Lovell Craddock of the home, a daughter, Karen Craddock Pence and husband Jim of Martinsville, sons, Joseph "Jay" Andrew Craddock and wife Jennifer of Gretna, and Charles "Chuck" Dean Craddock and his wife Amy of Lynch Station, a sister, Margaret Hamm, and grandchildren, Laura, Sarah and Jessica Davis, Rebecca, Faith and Joseph Craddock, Gray, Jack, Mary Katherine and Gloria Noelle Craddock.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Charlottesville at Belmont Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville.
Charles will always be loved, cherished, and missed by all family and many friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and inspiration to the many young people's lives he has touched and inspired. He encouraged his family and students to reach their fullest potential in all their endeavors and to always live an honorable and Godly life.

Sorry did not find out about Charle's passing until to late. Lost track of Charles over years and could not find out where he went to. Walked to school with Charles from "Hogwallow" to Clark School, if you know where I am talking about, until he went to Rock Hill for high school. Aways liked Charles and I am sorry I lost track of him. After I retired I drove cars to dealers in Martinsville an I am really sorry I didn't know he lived there, would have loved to have gotten to gather with him.

Gloria, Karen, Jay and Chuck, What a wonderful life!! Charles will always be remembered for his smile, wit, and his love of teaching and coaching. I loved working with him and he always found the positive in everything. He will always be a beloved "Swampdrainer" and will be missed by all of his closest friends. Gloria...we will always remember Charles with his smile and love for his family....Paul and I don't remember ever seeing your man without that big smile on his face....no matter the circumstances. His love for family, friends, and country were unbounded. Coach Craddock will be remembered as one Great person...He was like a father to me. I saw him when I was in Martinsville in 2014. He was my football and wrestling coach.
