The hallways of both the Portsmouth Jr. and Sr. High Schools have been forever etched by the intellect, wit, and impeccable character of Buddy.More than 40 graduates of PHS were recipients of the J.Walton Nursing Scholarship Fund of which Buddy was one of the founders.A delightful balloon fight in a UNH dorm in 1961 ended briefly Bud's degree pursuits. He already was close to MENSA league so a degree was plain ole vanilla frosting. HE seemed to not be aware of being tired.... ever.
Buddy Dame was a BIG, BIG MAN and shall be missed. May he rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon him.

Buddy and I served together at Fort Lewis, Washington beginning in 1966. My wife, Sally, and I "stood up" for Buddy and Jackie when they were married in the spring of 1966. We became friends and shared ideas when we lived at the Anchor motel in Tacoma. My wife had recently made contact with Buddy via Facebook. We were saddened to hear of his sudden death and send our condolences to his many friends and family members.

Buddy was a fantastic fun-loving friend and classmate. His generous contributions to our class reunions helped make them legendary and the envy of many others. It won't nearly be the same without the man who lit up the room by his merest presence. Rest in peace my dear friend. Your legacy will live on in our hearts and minds as long as we draw breath.

Buddy and I reunited as friend after many years apart. I am very saddened by his passing. He would talk about being cousins and related to so many people my head would spin. Great memory. Will miss popping in to visit with plain donuts for him. Rest in peace. My sympathy to the family.

You weren't a grandpa by blood - but you were my grampa by choice; you were the one that would take the time when I was just 9 years old to teach me how to multiply, the one whom every birthday would get me my favorite dinner (Chinese) the one who would reassure me that I was a good kid even when I may have acted out - teaching me how to use a hammer and allowing me to work along side while you were building your shed....years together that left me with amazing memories but also an amazing mentor that did Infact instil manorism and those values I now teach Isabella ! Thank you for an unforgettable childhood!

We were so saddened to hear about Buddy's passing. Dad (Glen Caswell) said that Buddy was a better storyteller than he was! Now *that's* saying something! :-} And we all definitely agreed that he was such a nice man who was much beloved. Look out Heaven, here comes another Dame!! Love to family and friends, Kathy (Caswell) and Rod Bates; Margaret and Glen Caswell Salem. SC and York, ME
