To my Sweetheat,
You are the love of my life and I miss you terribly. You were the most terrific husband and father anyone could have ever wished for . I thank God that you are now pain-free and in his divine care. I look forward to the day when we'll once again be together. I LOVE YOU.

As I was growing up, I always thought of Uncle Bob as strict, tough, regimented and business-like - not particularly appealing qualities from the perspective of a boy growing into and through his teens. I surmised that this was the product of his military service, his leadership qualities and his professional status and that this was simply who Uncle Bob was.

It wasn't until many years had passed that I came to realize that there was a completely different side to Uncle Bob that I had never imagined. Maybe it the fact that his retirement allowed him to put aside those qualities that I didn't appreciate as a boy and to become more relaxed. Maybe it the fact that I was older and wiser and had attained a position of improved perspective that only comes with age and experience. Perhaps it was both.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to get get to know Uncle Bob better over the last several years. What I learned was that we had much more in common than I ever thought. Our communications were as equals and our respect for one another was also equal. What I also learned was that I really truly loved this man and very much enjoyed the times we shared.

Uncle Bob was up-front and honest - even blunt - I loved that quality! I always knew where I stood with him and always knew where he stood on any subject we discussed because he told it like it was. He was intelligent, funny and surprisingly sensitive and an overall pleasure to be around.

Above anything else, however, I admired his dedication to his family. Daryl, Doug & Craig - he was so proud of all of you. I could hear it in his voice and in his words as easily as I could see it in his eyes and on his face every time he talked about you. Aunt June - his love and respect for you were equally evident - I truly believe that you were Uncle Bob's soul mate.

I can also speak for my wife and daughter when I talk about how much love, admiration and respect we will always have for Uncle Bob. We will miss him. Our trips to Hilton Head Island will never be the same without him there to give us all a big hug when we saw him. We will miss our breakfasts at the pancake house and our dinners at his home.

We love you, Uncle Bob.

God truly has blessed us all by giving us so many years of happiness with Pop-pop. I am truly saddened that he is no longer with us. He was a wonderful man who always thought of others before himself. We all loved him so and he will be missed.

A great soul was taken from us, too soon, too soon. A greater man never lived, laughed, and loved, the way Bob did. He left an impression with everyone he met. We will always have our memories of his professionalism, patriotism, compassion and strength. We wont forget his smile or kindness. May he now be free of pain, and stand as close to GOD as possible. A truely great man, will be sadly missed, and remain in our hearts always. My wish to the family, that you all find strength and peace thru this trying time. With Love, may GOD be with you.

Charlie was great to work for..Our HS&ES Department was one big family at Allied and he was surely a part of it..He'll be remembered by all of us..To all his family, our hearts go out to you.

My sympathy to Charlie's family. I worked with him for several years at Honeywell and he was always a true professional and a respected expert in his field.

I loved pop-pop so much. I am just thankful he went quickly and the suffering finally ended.

So sorry to hear about Charlie. Early in my career with Allied he served as not just "the boss" but as a mentor to all us Safety professionals. He made Allied-Signal's Safety & Health Program a benchmark effort to be envied by other companies. He pushed all of us (and scolded some of us) to "Strive for Excellence;" it not just a theme or slogan but to live it. And, to be effective we must always believe that "Safety Is Caring!" He made us believe our work and efforts really meant something. He made our organizations and people the better and safer for it.
We'll miss you and your leadership Charlie.
And, Thank you for being our teacher.

I was so saddened to learn of Bob's passing. There will always be a special place in my heart for him, I have so many great memories of time spent with the Dancers. You are in my thoughts.

So very sorry to hear that the bone cancer finally won. Charlie (as his Allied colleagues knew him) was a great safety professional who made lasting contributions.

The Colonel will always be in our Thoughts and in our Hearts.
