Sonya,
I are so sorry to hear about Charlie's passing. He was the sweetest, kindest man and I know he loved you dearly! I will always remember what a sweet smile he had and what a wonderful man he was to so many people.
If there is anything I can do for you or the family, please don't hesitate to ask or let someone get in touch with me, after all, Charlotte isn't that far away, if you want to come down for a few days, the door is always open.
I love you, keep your chin up, I'm sure Charlie is looking down in those beautiful blue eyes right now.

Mr. Davenport was a great man and an amazing teacher. We were all very upset when we heard the news. It's almost like losing a friend rather than a teacher. I will miss seeing him around at school.

From a former student, thank you so much Mr. Davenport for all the time, energy, instruction, and thoughtfulness you took into teaching us. Everyone LOVED you and we are so appreciative of everything you did for us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Thank you Mr. Davenport for taking care of all of the Northern students while they learned to drive - no way I would ever do that job. My son Alex talked about you often about what a cool guy you were and how much he enjoyed driving under your care. You are missed.

Our hearts are truly saddened to hear of Charlie's passing. We had the pleasure of becoming friends with Charlie many years ago through our association with GWRRA and our shared love of motorcycling. Charlie was a formidable man with such a kind and sweet spirit. Without doubt, he was one of those individuals we are fortunate to have known, and it goes without saying that he made such a lasting impression and impact on the lives he touched. Though not here in his physical presence, his spirit shall always remain with those who loved and cherished him.
Sonya, our prayers and thoughts are with you and the family during this sad time.
God Bless You All,

Rest in peace Mr. Davenport. Thanks for putting up with your students' short attention spams in drivers ed, our terrible driving abilities, our slamming on the breaks and giving you "whiplash" (or at least that's what you always told me). You always made me laugh when I was such a nervous wreak about getting behind the wheel of the driver's ed car. Future students will truly be missing out on an awesome driver's ed teacher. I'll be praying for your family, that God may comfort them. Have fun cracking jokes with God. You will be greatly missed.

Mr. Davenport was hilarious and I remember my days of driving with him vividly. Even though it's been two years, he'd always greet me with a smile every time he saw me in the hallways or walking out to my car, keys in hand. He won't be forgotten at Northern Guilford.

Mr. Davenport was an awesome old man, and he knew it. He came into northern every afternoon knowing he could do whatever he wanted cause the fate of kids driving was in his hands. He was an inspiration to many, including myself, and i was really happy to get to know him.

We'll all miss Mr. Davenport, a great Drivers' Ed teacher and an even greater man. Like many others, I too was pleasantly surprised when we crossed paths years later and he remembered me. He was the first to introduce me to Mrs. Winners Chicken back in 2002 when I took drivers' ed. :) He was always calm and witty, a reassuring presence for many frightened young drivers. May God's blessings and peace be with his family.

Mr. Davenport was an amazing drivers ed teacher. I took drivers ed with him this past May at Northern Guilford and he was the only reason I came to class. Taking drivers ed as a senior was extremely difficult but he always did his best to make me feel at ease. He was an excellent teacher and always knew how to convey the importance of safe driving with his students. RIP Mr. Davenport and to his family...my prayers are with you.

I am totally shocked at his passing! Mr. Davenport was my drivers ed teacher! He even let me get away with running a red light while checking out a female on UNCG's campus! :). He was a good man and really cared about helping us learn the rules of driving and being able to do so safely. May God bless his soul and family!

I have fond memories of "Buddy," and the Davenport family. Janet, Pam and I had many "adventures" hanging together in high school. I always loved spending the night at their house. Buddy always made me feel at home with his warm and gentle personality. In fact the whole family was fun to hang with! I will always appreciate Buddy and Shelby's compassion and understanding with our "teenage ways!" And though we all have not kept closer touch in later years, I have not forgotten them.
My heart and love goes out to you all!

My son Eli just completed Driver's Ed classroom instruction with Mr Davenport this summer. He was so looking forward to driving with him this fall. For a 15 year old to look forward to spending time with ANY adult these days speaks volumes about the kind of person he was. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Davenport was the best drivers ed teacher at western guilford. He kept the class interesting and fun I had to take it with him twice. But it was great. He was a great man to talk to and I will miss him greatly. My prayers go to the family and friends.

My Uncle Buddy (Charles) was a great guy, who loved his family very much. I never liked the fact that we lived so far apart, but it was always a great time when we did see each other. Uncle Buddy was full of life until God called him home. He will be greatly missed.

Sonya & Family,
I did not have the opportunity to meet Charlie while he was a driver education instructor with North Carolina Driving School but spoke with him many times on the phone. He was always helpful and willing to work with the students and parents at Northern Guilford High School. You will miss him but he will be remembered by the students that he taught to drive safely. I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers.

Charlie has been a good friend for many years, a good and caring man, supportive and helpful. He had a calm and ease about him, and made life more pleasant for everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. I am saddened by his passing, and will miss him until we meet again.

I am very sorry to hear of Mr Charlie Davenport's passing. He was my drivers ed teacher at WGHS and made the class and driving experience enormously entertaining. The incredible thing was that despite being inundated with hundreds and hundreds of kids, he always remembered who I was when I'd run into him around Gboro.
Mr Davenport, thanks for all the memories. We'll miss you.

Chuckie,
For sixteen years we partnered together teaching the motorcycle safety class. I miss having you teaching with me since you retired your whistle. I always mention you as I continue to instruct new and old riders.
Doc, Milt, David, and I will miss you on our day rides which you began years ago. We will set a place at the table for you.
I will always remember the drill team performances, the day rides, the overnight rides, and all the rallies we attended together. Most of all I will miss the friendship we cultivated over the past 28 years.
I love you, Bro.
Ride safe.

Mr. Davenport was my drivers ed instructor in 2001. He was suited for that work, he had a way of putting a couple of nervous 15 year olds at ease. He seemed to have a patience of no limits, and quite the sense of humor. He's one of the few people several of us from high school still look back on and speak of fondly, and every story we remind each other of involving Mr. Davenport is always followed by laughter. I seemed to run into him a couple times every year since, and was surprised he always rememberd who I was. Condolences to the family.

Sonya, Pam and family,
Barbara and I are saddened to hear of Charlie's passing. He has been a good neighbor. Always kind and friendly. Though we have all been busy through the years, and did not spend a lot of time together, we knew Charlie (and Sonya) would always be there as neighbors if something came up. May God be with you all, as you go through this difficult time. Charlie and Barbara Sams
