Mr. Davis was my 4th grade teacher. That year our dog unexpectedly died on a Sunday night, and I went to school Monday morning upset. Mr. Davis took the time to listen and let me grieve for a few moments, which was exactly what I needed at that moment. Anyone can learn facts to regurgitate for students to memorize, but it’s a gift to be able to meet 30 different children where they are and help them learn. I am in my 40s now, and it still means the world to me that Mr. Davis was that kind of teacher to me. May his memory be a blessing.

Mr. Davis was my teacher in the 90's. I always remember him as my favorite teacher. I was a shy kid and I always remember when I created some art in the class and he placed it in his front window to display. I felt so proud. Then one day some girls stopped and we're looking at my picture. He stopped class and ask them if they wanted to meet the artist and he brought me out to meet them. I felt so uncomfortable but as I look back I felt such pride. I'm 37 and I never forgot that moment. He was a great man and I hate I learned 4 yrs to late and missed the chance to tell him that.
