I was devastated by the news of Chuck's death. Chuck and I were on the Washington State Board of Pilotage Commissioners for a number of years. His steady ability to analyze complex issues made him an ideal Commissioner. At the same time he had a wry sense of humor that allowed him to provide input to the Board without seeming officious. He served the people of the State of Washington in an exemplary manner.
Chuck and I also interfaced as a result of maritime consulting work that both of us did. Usually I was the one going to him for his insight into a complicated legal question caused by the vagaries of maritime law. He was always willing to share his knowledge.
He will be greatly missed and I extend to his family my heartfelt sympathy for your tremendous loss.

Catherine and Family,
It is with great sadness that we heard of your loss. The Howard Family will cherish the memories of Chuck and his steadfast dedication to the scouts in Troop 72. Chuck was always there to provide help and guidance.
We fondly remember our kids playing together and the welcoming and comfortable environment of the Davis home.
Our deepest sympathies to you all.

I first met Chuck in the early 1960s on the sailing team at the Academy. Though he was two years junior to me, he was a guy to remember. We reconnected in 1984 when I moved to Seattle. We became close in so many facets of life from that time forward.
Fair winds and following seas my friend.

As a former neighbor, I first met Chuck as he was camping with Boy Scouts in a field across the road on Samish Island. There was a lot of activity during those campouts, and what a joy to hear. Chuck will be sorely missed in his commitment to getting people outside.

As one of Chuck's cousins, words can't begin to say how sorry I am for all of those who loved and knew him. I remember talking to him at our last Davis family reunion in Sedro Woolley - I will carry that memory of him always.

I've known Chuck since I started practicing maritime law in Seattle in the early 80's. A true gentleman and a scholar; also fun to talk with about crazy cases. I will miss Chuck a great deal. I ache over the circumstances. Prayers to and for all !!

To the Davis Family,
Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies and know that our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
When I think of Chuck, I recall the many hours of volunteer- time he spent working with Queen Anne youth organizations and often in a leadership role Little League, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Helpline tree lot; taking time to attend Boy Scout Adult Leadership Training, Little League baseball skills clinic, and I am sure there are more. Chuck was a calm, wise, and patient presence for the boys, as well as at times, for adults.
The Davis Family was a blessing to our family and I am sure to many others on Queen Anne Hill.
May you find increasing comfort and peace with each passing day,
Jon & Mary Eytinge
