HARTLAND - Charles P. Day, 82, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Mount Ascutney Hospital & Health Center, from mantle cell lymphoma.

He was born Aug. 26, 1930, in Worcester, Mass., the son of Marjorie (Packard) and Floyd MacLean Day.

He graduated from Wilbraham Academy and earned an associate degree from the University of Massachusetts Stockbridge School of Agriculture.

Mr. Day entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954 after serving in Korea.

He was employed at New England Metal Culvert in Palmer, Mass., and later transferred to Wilder. He drove for various Upper Valley companies, including RSD Transportation where he worked until retirement.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and American Legion in Hartland.

Mr. Day was an avid marksman and a member of Woodstock Gun & Pistol Club competing in national championships. He also enjoyed antique tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Jean (Baker) of Hartland, whom he married June 21, 1958, in Chester; two children, Sarah Brimlow of Lake Wales, Fla., and Michael Day; two grandsons; a sister, Charlotte Hudson of Brimfield, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Hartland Congregational Church followed by burial in Hartland Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA/Hospice of VT and NH, 66 Benning St., West Lebanon, NH 03784; or Shriner's Hospital for Children, c/o Edward Shores Memorial Angel Fund, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
