Charles M. DeGennaro M.D.

DeGENNARO – Charles M., M.D., 83, of Holmdel, N.J., formerly of Brooklyn and Staten Island, N.Y., died at home Friday, July 11, 2008. Dr. DeGennaro was a pediatrician practicing in Brooklyn and Staten Island for 45 years. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he cared for generations of families. He was a graduate of Georgetown University and Albany Medical College. He served his residency at the Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was an Army Air Force veteran, having served his country during World War II. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Staten Island prior to moving to Holmdel, N.J., 20 years ago. Dr. DeGennaro was precedeased by his loving wife, Anne, in 2002; two brothers, Neil and Joseph DeGennaro; and three sisters, Anna DiPalma, Sadie DiPalma and Margie DiPalma. Surviving are his three sons, Anthony DeGennaro, M.D., of Colts Neck, N.J.; Carlo DeGennaro of Holmdel, N.J.; and Louis DeGennaro of Union Beach, N.J.; three daughters, Teresa Fiorica of Johnstown; Gina DeGennaro of Holmdel, N.J.; and Marianne DeGennaro, M.D., of Holmdel, N.J.; sister, Mary Coppola of Long Island, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Joseph, Mario, Christina, Michael and Natalie. Visitation was held at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, N.J. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church, 26 Leonardville Road, New Monmouth, N.J. Entombment to follow at the Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum.
