Charles Edwards Driggers, age 88, resident of Gonzales, LA, was called Home by his Lord and Savior on Wednesday September 21, 2022. He passed at The Crossing hospice in Baton Rouge suffering complications from COPD and CHF after Aortic Heart Valve Replacement surgery in April.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley T. and Ellen F. Driggers of Collins, Georgia where he was born; also a sister, Tera D. Shannon of Colin, Louisiana. His loving survivors are wife Nancy, daughters Charlene and Nicole, son Richard, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

Charles served his country during the Korean War in the Navy aboard the USS Helena CA-75. In later years, he enjoyed attending ship reunions held in various locations around the country, where he and former shipmates reminisced about their glory days. Charles went to his Collins High School reunions very often, catching up with some classmates he had not seen in years. He loved gardening, cooking, reading history - and cookbooks, watching the Tigers play football and baseball. He followed the Saints throughout the good years and the bad. Most of all he was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 1, 2022, from Noon 'til the cow s come home at Praise Church, 36452 C. Braud Road, Prairieville, Louisiana 70769. We would love to visit and swap stories with all his friends and relatives.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his name to the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church, 401 Little Flock Church Road, Collins, GA 30421

Favorite memories of PeePaw include fishing trips in the marshes of south Louisiana.

For 30 years PeePaw has been a part of our lives and he will be deeply missed.

Charlene, Britney, Hayden, Nicole and Richard...and of course my dear sister...to y´all he was PePa, to Nancy her Sweetie, to me my Charles. He called me Aunt.
Charles had pretty blue eyes, a fantastic cookbook library, barbecue pits, pit, pits. Working knowledge of cast iron pots and a really good cook, and I sure miss him. I remember when he joined our family, and oh no, he did not like cats! And what a fine lap he became!
I remember family gatherings and always had a good time.
I have a little clip of the three of us, going to see Johnny that last time. How much Johnny and Charles liked the Navy served on the same ship.
Good memories of a good man that was more then a brother in law. He was my brother.
Blessings and love,
Auntie

I and my children were saddened to learn of Charles passing. He was my brother-in-law and fun to be with around the dining table. He and Nancy were great hosts and cooks. He enjoyed cooking as a hobby, but had broad interests. We all had a jolly good time during those family gatherings. He will missed by all.
