Charles Dyer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 12, 2025.
Charles "Chuck" William Dyer, beloved husband, father, paw, and brother, passed peacefully from this life on August 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family and the grace of his Savior. A proud son of East Tennessee, Chuck's life was a living testament to faith, service, and dedication to both country and community.

At the age of 22, Chuck confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Beulah Baptist Church in Mohawk.

Chuck served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 to 1981 as an 0351 Antitank Assaultman. His patriotism never wavered, and his devotion to the American spirit remained steadfast long after his active duty ended.

Beyond his military service, he volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club, mentored young men through the Big Brother Program, and delivered meals and companionship through Meals on Wheels. For two years, he worked as a juvenile probation officer, encouraging young lives onto better paths.

For over two decades, Chuck was a devoted Gideon in Morristown, sharing God's Word wherever he could. His heart was especially burdened for the incarcerated, and each Friday night for many years, he walked into the Hamblen County jail-not with judgment, but with love, testimony, and Bibles in hand. He also served faithfully at the McDonald Mission Center, always eager to lend a hand or a listening ear.

Chuck retired from Mahle after 28 years of dedicated service. He was a proud, retired member of the Spirit Hill Riding Club and never lost his love for the open road and the brotherhood it represented. One of his favorite places to be was at Wheels Through Time in Maggie Valley, NC, where he volunteered regularly with his dear friend, the late Dale Walksler.

Adventure ran deep in Chuck's soul. He was a certified rescue diver and had completed over 400 saltwater dives. He and his wife, Rose "Suzette" Dyer, were married underwater at the "Christ of the Deep" statue in Key Largo, FL.

Chuck lived by the truth of James 2:26-"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." His faith was never idle. It was active, breathing, and evident in everything he did.

Chuck is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Rose "Suzette" Dyer. He leaves behind his son, Jeremy Cureton (Haley); daughters Jennifer Cansler (Dustin), Alicia Breeding (Austin), Sierra Noe (Jason), and Katrina Musick (Chris); sisters Sharon Dyer and Cindy Lawrence (Mike), sister-in-law Kim Henslee (Roy) of Beaumont, TX; and brother-in-law Richard Johnson of Beaumont, TX.

He was a proud and loving "Paw" to his grandchildren: Hailey Cureton, Christa Cureton, Addison Cureton, Jensen Cureton, Emma Brogan, Jackson Cansler, Adaline Cansler, Jamison Cansler, Maverick Adams, and Cassian Adams - grand-dog Millie. Chuck also had several nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, James and Louise Dyer; mother-in-law, Ann Johnson; brothers Rick Dyer and Ken "Red" Dyer; and an infant son, Charles.

Chuck leaves behind a legacy of strength and service. Memorial contributions can be made to Beulah Baptist Church or the McDonald Missions Center.
