Dr. Ellis became a favorite professor after my introduction to his advanced statistics, economics, and international/global business classes during my undergraduate degree at Texas Wesleyan University. He could even make attending classes during the summer worth the sacrifice. His positive influence had a lasting impact on my academic future, and I would like to attribute a portion of my MBA candidacy and success to his classes that demanded extensive preparation beyond expectations.
His classes prepared me for the MBA’s statistical demands and other analyses, and I should have thanked him again for my ability to thoroughly understand statistics through his informative explanations and summaries. At the time his class’ reputation was stringent and demanding, and I expect no less from a professor with my best interest at heart. I thank him for the ability to mix his good-hearted soul with a demanding class structure which instilled a drive in students to excel and specifically to not let him down.
Even before his death he was the topic of my conversations when I bragged about what I learned in his classes, but now Dr. Ellis has been the topic of conversations of reflection from his students, past and present, as each of us recall his influences. I recall his classes were late in my degree, but had I been exposed to him earlier during my degree I would have modified my studies to an economic and statistic focus which he made enjoyable and easy to learn, understand, and apply.
Dr. Ellis will be missed, and I am sincerely saddened he left us. With tears in my eyes I express how I would have enjoyed one last class or conversation with him. His personal contributions resulted in a better place for all of his students and friends. I am happy to have know him during the past few years, and I will never forget him and his influences I will pass on to others.

I came home tired from work this Friday and chose not to go shopping for Christmas. On today's mail, the Wesleyan quarterly magazine came in, and I was shocked as I read that Dr. Ellis passed away over a month ago. I still cannot believe he is gone!
A couple of weeks ago, I was browsing the Wesleyan MBA courses as well as one course in undergraduate (Intermediate Statistics) that I SPECIFICALLY wanted to take with Dr. Ellis to enhance my job skills. I was seriously considering going back to Wesleyan in the Spring just to sit in his classes and learn from his lectures. I love the way he taught. I found out that another professor was scheduled to teach those courses in the Spring, and I thought Dr. Ellis was probably on Sabbatical. I would never imagine he was never meant to be back to the class schedules if it wasn't for the magazine that came in today's mail.
Tonight, I found the obituaries and guest book entries. I am glad they have this so I can ventilate my feelings about this, there is simply no other way.
Dr. Ellis was one of my top three best professors I had at Wesleyan 1994-2000. Even though I degreed in International Business, he was not my advisor, but was planning on choosing him upon my return for an MBA. I took almost every undergraduate class he taught except for the statistics one. I learned a lot from his teaching materials and was an exceptional professor. We used to talk about international trips the whole time, and chat during class breaks. He gave me a lot of support and encouragement through school.
Now he is gone! I don't think there is a point to go back to Wesleyan if he is not there. I wanted to attend more of his classes SPECIFICALLY, and not for any other reason.
My prayers are with his relatives. Please feel free to e-mail me to share your experiencies with Dr. Ellis. I would love to read them.

I first met Dr. Ellis in the fall of 2000 at Texas Wesleyan and we instantly developed a great rapport. He was my advisor, professor, and a trusted friend. Dr. Ellis gave me a lot of encouragement during my years at Wesleyan, and because I was a returning student at an older age, he was very wholehearted about me completing my bachelor’s degree. We enjoyed talking about International Business and coastal Mexico. Dr. Ellis never stopped giving of himself to his students and always wanted us to excel. Thank you for being there for me at the Robing Ceremony 2003. We will miss you very much Dr. Ellis.

I do not even know where to begin. I have been out of town, and Dr. Ellis knew that I was pursuing employment abroad. Dr. Ellis was a big part in all this because he always guided me through out college. Dr. Ellis was an excellent human being, and a brilliant professor. I will always remember him as being my favorite professor at Texas Wesleyan University. Best wishes to Laura Ellis. You have my support always.

D. Ellis was my professor last Spring 2004 in ECO2305, he was always easy to talk to and very encouraging.
He loved teaching economics and offering advice to students about their future and employment, and life in general.
May God Comfort his family and friends.
Blessings

Laura and Family,
We are sorry for your loss and you are in our prayers. Although we didn't know Charles, we feel like we have some insight into the man he was by what we see in Laura and what we see is a bright, together, and goal-oriented person with a level head ready to take on the world because of her family.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Ellis' passing. Dr. Ellis was the reason I decided to attend Texas Wesleyan and on many occasions, he convinced me to stay and finish. His advice was always forthright and sincere. Dr. Ellis challenged me to go beyond my own expectations and gave me the confidence to try. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Mike's passing. We all met in 1985 when we became neighbors. Since moving away, our paths would cross several times a year. We lift you all up in prayer. Please take comfort in knowing that Mike has moved to a higher place, beyond pain and suffering. He was a hoot to chat with and will be missed.

As a professor, Dr. Ellis was always there for students. He was the most intellectual person I've ever met. He challenged all students to excel. He saw more in me than I saw in myself. As a friend he was a caring individual that had a softer side. We both shared a love of international business. I feel now that he is traveling all over the world at peace, following his dream. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I share you loss. -Love, Diane

Mike Ellis was a new professor at North Texas State University when I met him nearly 30 years ago. I was a graduate student and he was one of the "good guys" that we all knew. His loss comes as a shock to both my wife (Carol) and I. No doubt he continued to be one of the "good guys" among the students lives he touched. He will be missed.

May these words bring comfort to all who share this great loss of someone who was so dear to so many.
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God's love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
