Charles Fling Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 17, 2009.
MILLINOCKET - Charles W. Fling Sr. went to rest in the arms of the Lord Saturday June 13, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 17, 1950, in Lincoln, the son of Lewis Jr. and Bernice "Bunny" (Gee) Fling. Some of Charlie's best times were spent hunting and fishing with his family and friends, strumming on his guitar, reading, playing with his grandchildren, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. He is survived by the love of his life, companion of 17 years, Cathleen Flanagan, of Millinocket, whom he met as a young boy; his children, Jodi Davis and partner, Walt Corsa, of Port St. Joe, Fla., Dawn Difrederico, Cory Fling and Charlie Fling Jr., all of Brewer; and their mother, Pam Brewer. He was "Grampy" to Dylan, Jordan, and Madison Davis, Kennedy Corsa, Taylor and Julia Difrederico, and Drew Fling. His second family, Susan and Randy Rand of Old Town, Lauren Flanagan and fianc?, Anthony Rheaume of Winthrop, and William Flanagan of Bangor; special "Gaga" to Bailey Bernier, Aiden Owen, Lily Rand and Tara Flanagan; siblings, Susan and Rob Allen of Prospect and Robert Fling and partner, Robin Stephens, of Bangor; brother-in-law and best friend, David Flanagan; special aunt, Shirlie Mackin; lifelong friend, "Skip" McDonnell; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great friends and neighbors; and his little blonde Maggie, will miss their rides and times snuggling. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, brother, Lewis Fling III; distinguishable friends, Cory "Digger" Manzo, Bobby "Nick" Nicholson and Bupman. A private gathering will be held. Those who wish to remember Charlie in a special way may send gifts in his memory to I Care Ministries, 45 Spring St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Charlie was a kind, sensitive man with a big heart. May he rest in eternal peace.

Cathy, I'm soooo sorry to hear of Charlies passing. I wish there were magic words I could speak to ease your pain. I know how much you both meant to each other, and how much you both loved each other. I will never forget our lil talks at Kim's, when he would come in. He always brightened our days. Just hold close to your heart your memories, and love that you had for each other. Always know that my door is open if you need a shoulder or a friend. I took solace in this poem..."We never lose the ones we love, for even though there gone, in the hearts of those who care, there memory lingers on."

Jodi, Dawn, Cory and Charlie...I'm soooo sorry to hear that your dad has passed. I remember the many many times he talked of his pride and joys. I know the pain you are all feeling, and I know that he is in a better place with no pain or saddness. He will be forever with you in memory and heart. If there is anything I can do for any of you please let me know.

Cathy, Steve and I are so sorry that you have lost someone so special in your life - you made him happy. Charlie was such a kind and gentle man - what a wonderful way to be remembered! I first met Charlie the night that Dawn was born. He stopped by to visit us after being at the hospital and I remember thinking how handsome he was! He was so excited to have a new baby girl. Jody, Dawn, Cory and Charlie, we send our heartfelt condolences to you all for the loss of your Dad. It's so difficult to offer words of comfort at a time like this but please know that you are in our thoughts. Your Dad had such a kind heart.

Charlie, you always have had a special place in my heart. Your warm and loving heart will always be remembered. I remember how happy you were that my sister Linda remembered you in her last days. Thank you for coming to see her and making her smile. To Cathy, your support and love to Charlie over the past years has been wonderful. You were always there for him in good times and the bad. To Jody, Dawn, Corey and Charlie, although times were tough remember he ALWAYS loved you all with all his heart. Charlie will be missed by so many friends and relatives, as he touched us all with his special laughter and beautiful heart.
