Charles Foreman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 26, 2008.
FOREMAN, CHARLES TERRELL, 76, of Louisville, died Friday, the 14th of March 2008, surrounded by his loving family in Naples, FL. Born March 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles Beard and Christine Shields Foreman of Taylorsville, KY. A funeral director for nearly six decades, Mr. Foreman worked initially with his parents in Taylorsville, then in 1957 founded Foreman Funeral Home in Jeffersontown, where he worked side-by-side with his wife, Aline, until their retirement in 1985. In recent years, Mr. Foreman was affiliated with Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, which is a successor in the location of the original Foreman Funeral Home founded by his parents in Taylorsville. A virtual one-man historical society for Spencer and the surrounding counties, Mr. Foreman could tell you who lived where when, who their people were and when they died. He loved to ride through the countryside, recounting the histories of every farm -- including the Foreman family farm on Lilly Pike near the Foreman-Ford Bridge (so named, as Mr. Foreman would tell you, because his grandmother paid for it). Mr. Foreman was a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed nothing better than spending time with his family. Since their teenage years, Mr. Foreman and his beloved wife, Aline, were virtually inseparable. In February of this year, Mr. Foreman took the entire family on a cruise in the southern Caribbean, where he would spend the night shooting craps and telling tall tales to his favorite audience. Mr. Foreman was a member of the Swigert Lodge No. 218, Free and Accepted Masons; the Kosair Shrine; the Jeffersontown Moose Lodge and the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky. He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Aline Crafton Foreman; one son, Larry C. Foreman of Louisville; one daughter, Carla Foreman Dallas of Prospect; and a grandson, Charles Courtney Foreman of Louisville. Cremation was chosen and a memorial celebration of Mr. Foreman's life will be conducted at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, the 29th of March, at his daughter's residence at 6509 Mount Batten Court in Prospect, with Reverend Tom Dillard officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence prior to and following the service, from 4-7 p.m. Arrangements handled by Hall-Taylor Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Home of the Innocents or Kosair Charities.
